Just got done with a 36 hour marathon and finished my walk in entry visa application at Toronto for my infant. We already have our oci applied (21 Oct walk in). Since we had Dec 11th tickets and thanks to this forum and guidance from @eas2lv and few others, I got clarity on this. I was told at the end that we should be getting the visa stamped passport in 7-10 days. Also, the consulate is open tomorrow entertaining only walks ins. Might be worth exploring for people in need. They said that around 100 walks ins or so will be entertained.
Did you have appointment ? If not what time you went there and approximately how many people were there if you can please tell me that be great. I'm going on Monday from Windsor with kids so just trying to get some information. Thank you in advance

I did not. Walk in. Reached 2am Friday. Was 18th. They let in only 9 and I chose to stay back in line with my bro taking turns in line. Not sure if this helps though. Each day is different. Also, they are working this Sunday and letting in only walks ins. Yet again, this is only info I heard for Toronto location

Those sitting in Delhi are really dumb. Earlier they closed visas, many missed important visits, many missed Navratri & many will miss Diwali now. & Then all of sudden govt is asking staff to work overtime to give visas. While nothing has changed on the ground.
hear! hear!
I'm still giving the local mission and consulates the benefit of doubt as they were helpless about the idiotic decisions by Delhi. It seems they (Consular officers) are now doing the best they can within the limitations imposed by the govt.

How many days does it take for the OCI to reach home after being processed on the OCI website? Also, how much time before an update on the BLS website as my OCI got processed on 3rd Nov but no update on BLS website yet.
(i) On average 3 weekdays. (ii) Generally the next working day. You could expect an update on Monday and OCI in hand on 8th.
For past timelines see: OCI Tracker - Toronto

Agree, not their fault.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance with the following questions regarding OCI walk-in applications at BLS Ottawa:
  • Can I pay the BLS service fee using a debit card or cash at the counter, or is a separate draft required for that as well? Unlike the checklists for Toronto and Vancouver jurisdictions, I couldn't find specific details about the BLS service fee for Ottawa.
  • My Indian passport states only the city name as the place of birth, in contrast to the Canadian passport, which includes both the city and 'IND.' I'm assuming that this should not be an issue?
  • For two applications, can I submit a single draft for $690 payable to the 'High Commission of India, Ottawa'?
  • In the case of a walk-in, is there a possibility that my applications might not be accepted if I'm unable to reach the BLS Ottawa office before 9:30 am?

I can only answer the non-Ottawa-specific one: city name as in Canadian passport (without the ISO code IND) is what goes into the application. State and Country gets selected by the drop downs. The city matching that in Indian passport is enough. Printed application will show this as "City, State, India".

Is there anyone who recently applied for OCI for a canada born minor recently and used postal option ?

If yes, then, is there anyone who got oci process moving or got it completed using only photocopies instead of sending originals in postal?.

Thanks in advance..

Hi,
I sent an app for minor. Sent through postal (purolator). It’s under process still with consulate. No originals were sent. All photocopies but self testified on it.

Hi Guys
One QQ. Do we have to line up at building number 60 for Entry visa application or building 40 (BLS Brampton)? Also is there any need for signature thumb impression (Minor applicant) on the application form for Entry Visa? I didn't see any.

Also if I apply for entry visa, I suppose they will keep the passport. If my OCI comes before that, can I get my passport back?
Thanks

Thumb impression one pg 1 (in the box below the photo space) and pg 2. Also countersign by parents on page 2. See here for anntotated sample form from BLS:

I believe, you can get passport back by making a request -- need 2 days notice or some such and reason. I never tried.

"Applications for Visa and Passport Surrender at Bldg#60, All other applications at Bldg#40 Gillingham Drive, Brampton, ON." quoting from BLS site: https://www.blsindia-canada.com/toronto-jurisdiction/contact.php

i submitted by entry visa application through post and it reached BLS surrey office this Thursday(Nov 2nd) but i try to check the status in BLS website it gives an error "No record" found. Any idea when it will appear for us to track and what is possible timeline to recieve the visa ?
