Sorry, one tends to assume that the acronyms are in common usage. "SA" means Sponsor Approved (or something similar).

Sorry, I forgot to answer the second part of your question. Now, you wait until CIC tell you something that needs to be done or they send you a passport request. Did I mention the "waiting"... There is a lot of it involved.

Once we get married in November, we plan on applying outland (he's American, I'm Canadian) but he will be living here in Canada with me. Should we fill out his address information as his mom's address in the US, or will they not care if we put a Canadian address for his residence and are applying outland?

He needs to maintain status in Canada, but they won't care (I'm American and my Canadian spouse sponsored me while we were living together in Canada without issues).

Yeah, he'll be coming in on a visitor visa and we'll make sure we apply for extension once it gets close to running out. I just didn't want them to see his address as Canadian and think we need to go inland instead of outland.

Inland requires that the applicant be living in Canada with the sponsor. Outland allows the applicant to live anywhere - including inside Canada with the sponsor.

Electronic Files:

CIC uses three electronic systems: Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System (CAIPS), Field Operation Support System (FOSS) and Global Case Management System (GCMS).

The CAIPS is comprised of notes made by immigration officers located at missions abroad only.

FOSS is comprised mainly of immigration files located in Canada. However, in some cases, they also include notations made by overseas staff. This system is used primarily by Points of Entry(POE) officers to record the entries and exits of foreign nationals.

The GCMS is CIC's new integrated and worldwide system used internally to process applications for citizenship and immigration services.

Physical Files:

The physical files include all files located in Canada or abroad that pertain to an immigration process, such as a work or study permit, an extension of temporary residence, a sponsorship, an application for permanent residence, etc.

Electronic Files - you will get everything that's in CIC's electronic system on your file.

Physical File - you will get your entire physical file, except for de medical results.

The Electronic files you will get in around 30 days. The Physical ones I believe take longer.

Eletronic file doesn't interfere in the assessment of your application, I'd definitely go through this route. Plus, you'll receive it by e-mail. That is what I did, and I just ordered new notes again same way.

Yes, the electronic files. The physical file often slows down processing.

There probably won't be much information there if the file has only been at the VO for 2 months though.

Hello, I would appreciate any response to my question.

When I sent the application to sponsor my husband in april 2012, I only included the Iraqi police certificate since at the time he did not stay at any other country for more than six months. But when they requested the appendix A in January 2013, my husband had stayed in Syria for more than six months and I had to update them with this information.

Currently my application is under security check.

Will they request a police certificate from Syria? Will the security check take longer because there is no police certificate from Syria?

Nothing new since the hearing on the 21st of August. Still waiting on the PSLRB decision. It can't come soon enough.
