You received one but you are coming from the States. I guess I should have been more specific. Do you know if anyone from a non-exempt VO has had a medical extension? If so what were the conditions that allowed for it?
I have a friend who sponsored her Mexican husband, my answer is still yes lol. That said, I have no idea the conditions, I just know it took over two years for their application and their medical was extended.

I come to you with another stupid question. I'm just stuck in that position.

My wife sent me the sponsorship evaluation and application to sponsor as she's away this week. She signed and courier'ed it. But she printed it double sided =/

do they care if a form is printed double-sided?

I'm putting a sticky note telling them that its double sided. Not a smart thing to do?

Thanks.

This is the biggest bug up my azz when it comes to redoing medicals. They request all documents to be sent in at the start and then if they can't process your info before your medicals expire they make you get another. If the first medical was clear why would they not just extend that medical and complete the visa? They can't disqualify a spouse on medicals grounds anyway. Its like they want you to keep spending your money so they can further delay you.

I have kept a spreadsheet of what we've paid so far for our family: $2900+ (with no attorneys involved ... other than the two attorneys actually paying the fees: the sponsor (me) and applicant (my wife) 8) ). It's not cheap!

I'm right the same with fees all together, including buying new printer ink and paper for my forms. I had to buy all four colors because printing in black and white requires a yellow cartridge for some reason.

That is, if you don't factor in the lost wages from quitting my job and "visiting" indefinitely. My last manager was trying his darnest to kick out my boss and promote me, so I had a few raises in store as well. Le sigh.

They cannot deny the PR but they can delay a decision due to a medical condition, such as active TB. In my humble opinion they should ask applicants to do their medicals within 30-60 days after sponsorship approval (since they do not seem to look into anything related to the applicant during stage 1 anyhow).

I understand that lying is not an option for me. But what i am trying to say is that should I wait to get my PR and then get married or should I get married sooner and update my status with the canadian immigration Ottawa office(where my application is in process). which might prolong my application processing time I presume.
My application was already approved from PNP Ontario office. Now I have applied to the federal government(CIC).
My advice would be to marry her BEFORE you submit your passport and then amend your application to include her as your spouse. As you note, Islamabad is very slow, but with you on the PNP track even with the 6 months delay to add her it will be much faster. Further, if you are in Canada on a legal work permit in NOC O A or B, you can ask that she be granted a spousal open work permit and she may come join you in Canada - subject to the usual review, of course, which might take as long as getting your PR approved.

Alternatively, if you become a PR before you marry her, I would suggest she attempt to obtain a TRV to visit Canada - to evaluate Universities she might attend, visit family and friends, holiday, etc. If she can obtain a TRV, you can then marry in Canada and sponsor her via the inland process - which is definitely much faster than Islamabad.

Technically, if the spouse has an untreatable form of TB they COULD refuse the PR. The most common medical inadmissibility grounds (excessive demand) is no applicable to spousal applications, but the other two grounds - threats to public health/safety - are applicable.

I totally agree. The medicals are so expensive and when they expire CIC will not remit part of the application fees to redo our medicals. Why do we have to pay because of their tardiness?

It pains me each time I go through and tally it up. The total cost (including attorneys fees, court costs, both applications, medicals, etc.) is just under $20,000.

On the other hand, if I had to do it all over again, I'd still pay it because being with my spouse is worth it - and more.

Exactly. I'm considering taking Jason Kenney to small claims to recover the cost of redoing medicals and police certificates. I would love to see his face if everybody did that. 10,000 or more small claims actions at one time. LOL.

I've only spent an extra $1000 so far not including trips to see her. Just the documentation and postage. Add the trips and we are up to over $10000

;D ;D :D I'd love to see Jason Kenney's face. They don't deal with immigrants good. How can they have us working in factories with our degrees from abroad if they respected us?
