Very well said!
well said! i agree .... the gulf countries have regular postings of such requirements. i was hoping specially IT people would not be taken off the list. maybe too many IT people applied. but yet... it is an occupation that is very much in demand all over the world! even certain others that have been taken off.

It is evident that the Gazette publishes official news. how come the official immigration website hasnt even released a news of the changes. atleast an indication?? so many people who want to apply will not be looking at the Gazette but at the main website for info. how will they know of the changes if its not indicated where it SHOULD be mentioned. we in this forum are aware of it since joining the discussions.

feel really lost as to what to think as we (hubby n i) sent the pack on the 24th. it will only reach on the 28th or 29th. so i guess we'l not have a chance.... just hoping for something....

So, it is established that new list won't affect the applicants who already have AOR and who files are with CHCs. Only concern for these applicants is the new "CAP" system that can affect the processing of their application.

But my understanding of canada gazette statement is different. Loot at this line

"Federal Skilled Worker applications (see footnote 1) received by the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney on or after June 26, 2010, accompanied by the results of the principal applicant's English or French language proficiency assessment, (see footnote 2) not exceeding the identified caps and that meet either of the following criteria shall be placed into processing"

It means these CAPs will be maintained at CIO level and not at the CHC level; means existing applicants, who files have gone through CIO, shouldn't be affected by this CAP system. It also explains that the backlog of extra applications will be now at CIO and not on CHC.

Interesting thing will be to see if CIO will reject the applications once the cap is achieved or it will place in queue for next year.

Another horrible implication of it would be that CAP of 20,000 is for GLOBAL applicants, not the CHC specific, it will reduce the number of visas dramatically.

does that mean that from now people have to send the IELTS result to CIO Nova Scotia?

cheers
Well if the principal applicant has to send/submit IELTS to CIO Nova Scotia it will give an unfair advantage to applicants from English speaking nations as an applicant from Non-English speaking applicant will be delayed by another 2-3 months to get his IELTS score card. In which case the 1000 cap on the NOC will be deterimental to his application processing. To be fair IELTS should be mandatory for all irrespective of the country of residence. Believe me many of the so called native speakers from English countries will score good in speaking and listening modules but when it comes to writing they do not even know how to properly hold a pen in their hands and forget about doing the comprehension part.

Why I do not see it on the official website. Is it true or false?

What do you mean by 1000 per NOC code , that means 1000 applicants per NOC ? According to new list number of NOC is being curtailed to 29 NOCs and 1000*29=29000 , so how would they justify or calculate it ?
Thanks

Hi all,

Shocked to hear about the shortened NOC list. I would have thought that the same number of FSWs would be processed each year as although there is a cap on new applicants from 26 June 2010, the backlog of applicants will provide an ample base for processing staff to draw on. Basically, the 20,000 new ones each year will be topped up to a 'good' amount using 'old applicants' so that Canadian officials will still be able to say that 250,000 plus total immigrants came to Canada in 2010.

As only 40% of the 600,000 or so pre February 2008 applicants have been processed so far, I imagine these 'old applicants' will be pleased that their stack of applications will now get more attention. By the way, our application was received by CIO 3 May 2010. If we have made any mistakes, we're done for!

I think that Canada does want finance and IT people, it's just that they have a huge pool of existing applicants to draw on. And finance and IT staff can still hope to get job offers and go down this route, although admittedly that's much harder.

I need your HELP badly.. My case is this, I mailed my application on June 24, 2010 ( I am under FSW without work offer), of course at that time, there was no shocking any news yet, I did not mail my IELTS result along with my application because I followed the guideline currently available at that time. So, expectedly the CIO will receive my application after June 26. What will I do now? Do I need to mail a new application pack with my IELTS result in it? should it be the original copy or a certified copy? or Should I write a letter explaining the situation, then attach my IELTS result? Is there a new application kit too? HELP HELP HELP!!!

It means 1000 max per NOC. If you apply under a certain NOC, yours may be processed as long as the following two conditions apply:

1) they have only allowed less than 1000 to apply to visa offices in this NOC.
2) they have only allowed less than 20000 total FSW applicants (I am guessing in category 1).

This is rather very interesting. I have always known it pays to make hay while the sun shines especially because the shining of the sun is not under anybody's control. (read as , "apply now while the immigration rule that favors you is still in force because changes in Canadian immigration rules are not under the applicant's direct control") This is pretty interesting. I think some of the effects are these:

1. The number of applications received for processing will be drastically reduced and thus make processing faster under these categories.
2. Old applications (pre Feb 2008) will be fast tracked as long as point 1 remains true.
3. Student applications and provincial nominee programs will become the toast of would-be-immigrants henceforth.
4. AEO will possibly get more popular though this is a more challenging option.
5. Immigration agency business may be negatively affected depending on the scenario but I suspect this will make them more popular as the rejection cases may increase for those who apply on their own. The business of immigration for these agencies my actually swing in either direction.

I really wish us all the best in our immigration efforts!

Make a request to the British Council or center where you had your exam and ask them to send to an overseas address that is accessible to you. They will send it and you can pick it up from there and attach to your application to NS. It will normally cost you a token.

Best!

I don't know if there is a new application kit but one thing for sure, they will return your application if the IELTS is not attached.
