Hi Guys!
So I sent my application August 30th and my sponsorship approval was sometime in October. Ever since then I have been trying to sign into ECAS but it never recognizes me. So I sent Ottawa and email asking them of my status and why ECAS was not working for me. Well this was their reply;
"Good day,

Your application is in process. It was actually recently transferred to the visa office in Los Angeles. They will contact you when more information is required.

Warm regards"

So still the question of the ECAS was not answered.
So I am still sort of in the dark on this application. I wanted to find out if this is normal procedure (transfer from Ottawa to LA), and if it is, how long does it take to get to the stage of PPR? Also does this mean interview has been waived?

Ugh! Not having my ECAS working is not kool at all!!

I am assuming you are an applicanty from the US, but if you are not, if your full name uses both your father's and mother's maiden name, try using that. In our experiance that worked. Also, in our experience the application number never worked, we had to have either UCI for ECAS to work.

As a sponsor currently living my spouse outside of Canada, I have been wondering exactly the same thing. I have not been asked for my "proof of intent" yet, but I've been planning and compiling documentation....all without having any idea of what will be "enough". So far I haven't read of anyone on these forums that have been asked for proof that hasn't been accepted, but these requests seem all quite new, so it may be too early to tell.

They emailed and asked me for more information to satisfy the concerns they had about me moving back to Canada once my wife was approved, i emailed back asking what sort of information would they like, on top of what they had already.

they responded by saying they approved my application lol. odd...

Wondering if anyone can advise the best way to renew a US passport from Canada. I am landing the first week of April, My US passport expires in September. Will they mail a passport out of country? For some reason I thought they wouldn't. how does that work?

They emailed and asked me for more information to satisfy the concerns they had about me moving back to Canada once my wife was approved, i emailed back asking what sort of information would they like, on top of what they had already.

they responded by saying they approved my application lol. odd...

Sort of makes you think that they don't actually look at what you include in the applications, doesn't it? "Oh, you included that already? Never mind..."

You can just mail it in.

Note: American Citizens living in Canada are eligible for passport renewal by mail. The DS-82 form is not correct where it states that passports may be renewed by mail only if the applicant is using a U.S. mailing address. In fact, an exception is made for residents of Canada.

You can mail it in, since you're in Canada:

    U.S. citizens residing abroad [b](except those living in Canada)[/b] should renew their passports at the nearest U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate.

    [b]U.S. citizens residing in Canada may submit Form DS-82: Application for U.S. Passport by Mail to the address listed on the form.  [/b]

BTW, if you plan to travel to the US, you can get same day service (since you'll be traveling abroad soon again) if you'll be at a city with a Passport Agency - the list is available at http://travel.state.gov/passport/npic/agencies/agencies_913.html (you do need to pay an expedite fee, though.

Also, consider requesting a passport card simultaneously (gives you backup ID you can use at a land border if you don't have your passport available).

ECAS must be short for "est cassé" - it's been really hard to log in lately.
