Hi , I got offer letter to mcit Montreal for one year in supply chain management to may intake 2020, which is private college. In order to eligible for pgwp do I need to do second year in the private college or can I shift to public college?
Please clarify my doubt. Thank you in advance

So to qualify for a PGWP after attending MCIT you need to meet the following

To be eligible for a PGWP, your program must be 900 hours or longer and lead to 1 of the following:

  • Diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) (Diploma in Vocational Studies)
  • Attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP) (Attestation of Vocational Specialization)
  • Diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) (Diploma in College Studies)
  • Attestation d’études collégiales (AEC) (Attestation of College Studies)
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list/quebec.html

General advice here is to avoid private colleges given either they do not qualify towards a PGWP application or there are conditions as above.

There is a specific rule for 2x1 year courses to qualify for a PGWP see below link

Like we've said so many times - the visa success rate depends on you, not the program you're admitted to.
I need a information regarding college transfer.
I don't know why people are just confuseing that person brother i am going to clear all of your query so let's begin first of all getting into a private collage will not make you to eligible to apply PGWP after study as well as to apply for sds category which will makes visa processing fast and a little smooth so because your visa file will not be under sds category so your file will be under General category so visa chances are less compareing to SDS category but mostly depend on your grades like percentage and ilets etc plus proof of founs will also be a major factor for visa result . Now comes to your next question about universty of Regina so because it is a universty so it will make your friend (which i think you are ) eligibile for PGWP and visa chances will be almost like sds category because in the university category chances for rejation is very less because canada has a special category for universtys .now comes to your third quary about SOP so i will recomend you to find a good consaltant which will do it for you and many other thing because sop is the most important thing to get visa result positive and taking risk of rejection just because of few thousand rupee which consaltant may charge i don't think worthy . I know that all thing because i am done with all the things done and now i am currently waithing for visa which i may get in few days ( for privete collage ) which i will change into public after going their #specialtip before paying the tution fee for private collage chek thier refound police's and if need help just reply to this
Did you change your college after gng to Canada and what about the refund policy?

I applied to canadore college for one yr in supply chain management course which is public college for Jan intake and my visa got rejected. Later I applied for M college Montreal Quebec for two years course in project management in graphic communication (which is private college and offer pgwp as listed in eligibility of institutions) for may intake and paid one year fee with GIC (Scotia Bank), and waiting for CAQ from one month after that I need to apply for visa. Due to covid-19 my offer is defer to September as the borders are closed now.
Now I got an offer letter from canadore college Toronto for Sept intake, I need an information regarding the possibility of college transfer at this stage, if yes what are the charges applicable.
Is this a good decision?
Experts suggest me the best.
Thankyou in advance.

Hello,
My name is Oman and I planning only for Ontario Colleges in Sept 2021 Intake.
I have a few queries. please help me sort it out as soon as possible.
1) I want to know how do I find which program is called the Postgraduate program in Canada. As it is so much confusing to me (Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate, or any other.) I couldn't come up with the selection. Any false leads to rejection chances and doesn't want to take it.
2) Where do I find which colleges are Public or Private Colleges any link to the website will do great.
3) Also where can I find which programs are eligible for PGWP. (Any link on cic or any Canadian website.)
4) Lastly, which programs do I select 1 year, 1+1 year, 2 years. It would be a great help.

If the school does not qualify for a PGWP - it is not possible to obtain one.

I'm not sure what you mean by extend. If you want to remain in Canada longer, one option would be for your wife to go back to school full time and this time pick a school and program that qualify for a PGWP. Another option would be for one of you to find an employer willing to give you a job offer and who can also obtain an approved LMIA. Although this tends to be very difficult to do.

Hello there Scylla, I also looked into list of DLI university/cllgs, from the ircc website, that do not offer PGWP but are DLI. Do you think a student can work part time while studying in this dli college/uni that does not offerpgwp?

For working part time, does it have to offer pgwp+ be a DLI OR .. needs only to be DLI and full time?

Working part time (<20 hours) depends on your study permit.

My nephew took admission in Pacific link College, I know he wont get PGWP. Could you explain me that if course is completely online, Can he land in Vancouver, finish his documentation and move to Ontario and live with relatives permanently?
I have heard students can move to another province after they finish study but have never heard of a case where a student gets admission in one province and lives in another. Will not this create any conflict in future when he applies for another course or PGWP and then may be PR as he was not committed to province?

So he has approved PAL and study permit? What program? Why not study at a PGWP school from the beginning, and waste money?

We guided him that he should look for program where he can get PGWP, but then these agents in India convinced him saying it is few days left to take admission with old GIC value i.e 10k else from Jan 2024 it will be 20k. And agent said then he can enroll in another course after this finishes where he can get PGWP. Also they told him that he can stay anywhere in Canada as the course is online. I find this misleading as well, why would province have quotas if students can live anywhere, Also, as student they get provincial health card in BC, It is way cheaper and better than private health insurance (you are not paid in full for expenses). I have also heard that if you are took admission in one province but live in another permanently, it can be compliance issue with study permit as you never have actually gone to college and in future can fail in your background checks for PGWP or PR if you stay and plan for it.

So he has PAL for the school? Does he have the funds for living expenses and tuition? He has to live and show residency in BC to get provincial health care. If he is in Ontario then he is not eligible for BC. Honestly plan makes no sense.

He does not need PAL as his application was approved before Jan 22,2024. He paid tuition in full. But if anyone here knows about process or have done that, getting admission in a BC, attending online course but staying in another province let me know pros and cons. I have no clue on if study permits are provincial or not. How you manage healthcare if not residing in BC. And do you get Job in another province??

Pretty sure he won't be covered by BC provincial care if he doesn't live in BC.
