You will get a "landing" stamp in your passport - my visa was not crossed over

I guess the immigration officers do things differently at various borders, but the bottom line is they mark the visa somehow as "used" :)

CIC customer responsiveness is beyond description! No e-mail replies, no e-cas update, arrogant and unhelpful call "representatives". What a way to treat newcomers to Canada...

Yeah,I know :( The only way I could get them to tell me anything was when we included our MP in the communication. Thank God all of that is over now, I am just trying to give useful information to other people on this forum when they ask, the same way I was helped many times...

Hi maisonderik1, that was pretty informative. My wife is an american citizen who landed on May 2nd. We are sorta in a situation that we have plans to leave for our Honeymoon on July 12th to Dominican Republic for a week from Toronto. Now I have a feeling that due to the 67 days processing time she won't be able to get her PR card in time.

Now US is a Visa Exempt country, do you think she will need to apply for a travel document? If you or anyone else can shed any light on the matter, it will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!! I'm not sure about boarding from the DR and what their airport procedures are but I've flown back and forth from Canada to the U.S. when I had my work Visa and I can't recall a time in which they even looked at my Visa at the airport. They just took my passport at the check in counter and that was it. I'm confident I will have no problems with my return from the U.S. in July but from the DR I wouldn't be too sure. But I think it should be ok, cause essentially you are from a Visa Exempt country and could be going to Canada for vacation for all they know.

Not sure about others, but my immigrant visa was crossed over at landing...

Mine was crossed over too...I wonder what this means?

it's one time entry visa, if you entered Canada with that immigration visa for landing already, then that visa is not valid anymore.

Hope this information serves as reference for others waiting for your PR Cards:

Landed on April 7th of 2015.
As of today, it's been 72 days and still no PR Cards ... ???

I am calling CIC to inquire how much longer it will be ...

i just landed one day after you and still waiting for my card, i called CIC a few times, one agent told me that the processing time on their website is not the standard processing time but average, i need to add two weeks delay+ 2 weeks mailing time on the top of the processing time states on CIC's website, i was like WTF!

landed a day before you. think we have to wait another two weeks minimum since folks who landed in early apr have yet to receive their cards. why is it taking so f**king long, all cic needs to do is print a card. is there only one person in cic processing the cards for all of Canada?

Just a heads up for guys who landed around first week of April , I called a day before and was told that cards will be mailed on coming Monday for the people whose processing time was over, but to my surprise I got it today in mail ( regular mail , nothing fancy ) :) :) .. so Good luck guys

What do you mean by "MP"?

Wow...so it's taken more than 2 months for most of the people here to get their PR cards?

MP = Member of Parliament. Every Canadian has one, according to their address. My husband's MP helped us when CIC messed up, but usually they don't get involved in usual application process, only if there is a big problem.

As I was explained by the call center agent when I called about my PR card, a few months ago, he told me that "processing" of the card actually includes some file checking and what not (didn't specify what), then picture scanning (at this point they decide if the pictures are of a satisfying quality), and then printing. Plus add 1-2 weeks for mailing, because they use the slowest possible mail.

I know how you feel, though :'(

Last year, there were folks who received their PR cards within 28 days. It's now taking CIC almost 3 times as long.
