Hi Friends,

I just called CIC to check status of my PR card.

Question I asked : Can you please tell me if my PR card is mailed yet?
Answer I got : Keep checking on ECAS status, once the card has been mailed, they would generally update the status with one more line added like " PR Card was mailed on date xxx"

Just to confirm, did any one observe this ?
One who already received the PR card, can you please confirm ?

I landed on Apr 17, waiting for PR Card ...

The agent probably just wanted to get rid of you, because only a very small percentage of people see ANY PR card status update in Ecas. I personally got my card without any update in Ecas (no processing, mailing, nothing). Any information I managed to get was when I call CIC call center.

I agree. You most likely will not see any update on the Ecas for the PR card.
I did my landing 3 weeks ago and I still have not seen a line stating the landing...
And I check the ecas regularly.

I was told my card was mailed out on 29th May and Canada post will take upto 6 weeks to deliver the card and 3 weeks are over already. Why does it take so long for Canada post I do not understand?! Anyone noticed the delay after you know the date when the card was sent out??

what is the current turn around time for PR cards?

Landed on 18th April and still waiting for stupid PR card ;p;

I thought I should be able to get the PR cards around this time...

do you guys honestly think I can get my card before August? l0l

Landed the same day. Given my 4 years experience with CIC. I'm happy if they can give me my PR card in 2015...

I landed on April 11 and today is the 72nd day and I haven't received anything... :(

I have landed on MAy 26, so by all people experience who landed before me, i am not having any hope even to get soon... :D

Seniors, please keep on posting the updates who ever make a call and discuss his case with call centre agents...

landed the same day, have a flight scheduled to travel out of canada within the week. I called several times, around late May I was told the card would be received by us before mid-June, which didn't happen. Later, was told they would be sending out my card in a couple of days, which didn't happen. And today, was just told no update on the cards, they are not even processed yet... I think I will need to fly back to the US first and then rent a one-way car to enter canada.

are these cic gentlemen literally in an "on stroke", oh my bad, i mean "on strike" working mode or what?

Good luck.....

Just knew that my husband will have a business trip outside Canada within several weeks. The PR card is nowhere, and travel document processing time is 20 business days....So what should we do? Seems our only option is driving to US, flying away, flying back to US and driving back?

I've travelled several times without PR Card now. The border agent couldn't care less, you are a PR and therefore entry can't be denied. It is the commercial carrier (i.e. Airline etc.) that does not accept your COPR for travel.
There is two ways around:
1.Give them a call and ask if it would be okay
2Check in with your still existing and valid visa (if you have it) and show COPR while at customs in Canada

The only way you can board an aircraft to Canada without your PR card is if you are from a visa-exempt country, and you tell them you are only visiting Canada (if asked).

The visa is NOT valid after landing. Most officers either cross it over or put a stamp on it at landing, because it is valid for only one entrance. When I was boarding an aircraft to Canada just a week ago, they saw that visa, but still asked for my PR card (which I didn't show them at first, I just gave them the passport).

At YVR they make you use automated border clearance now, so you have to have your PR card to scan when you fly into Vancouver this way. Not sure about other Canadian airports, but sounds like they will all have this sooner or later.

I would be very careful when planning a trip without a PR card. Flying to USA and then driving to Canada seems to be the best option.
