Hi everyone,

I've landed on March 24.

Just a quick question...
During the PR application process, I had a problem with CIC that they kept sending all mails (CoPR & Medical request) to my previous address even though they had my updated address....

I just wanted to make sure I get my PR card to the correct address. Does anyone know where I can call to confirm the address?

I called 1-888-242-1000 so many times, but the automatic voice always says all agents are busy....

Is there any other number I can reach?

Please advise.

As I know, that is the only number you can call - 1-888-242‑2100.

You have to be patient and wait to get an agent. I waited up to 40 minutes sometimes...

Hi Karen,

PR card is always dispatched to the address which one provides at the time of landing. So check the address provided at time of landing and if it is not current, reach out to CIC. This address would show as your home address on eCAS.

Hope this helps!

My landing paper has the correct address on it, but ECAS shows the wrong mailing address (residential address is correct).

I updated my address through ECAS and reconfirmed it by emails several times, but I still got my COPR mailed to the wrong address.

I probably have to call the number to confirm...

It happened to some other people, too. I would strongly recommend for you to call once, make them change the MAILING address (sometime home address is correct, and mailing is still wrong), and then call again in a week to check if the change is still there - you can never be too sure with them.

I just received my PR card in the mail - white envelope, not brown. As expiry is Mar 20th, I assume that is the date it was printed.

How would know the status of your PR card? I see a column for this. Thanks!

Sometimes
it appears in ecas, but rarely. Mine never did. Most of people on the spreadsheet got their status over phone (CIC call centre).

I see. Thanks! I have no update in eCAS as well. I will give them a call.

I just called CIC. The agent told me that processing time is 25days and since I landed on 18th Mar I should receive the PR card by 18th Apr. Really hope it comes by that date.

If you are not visa exempt, you cannot board a commercial vehicle (plane, train, bus) without your PR card. If you are visa exempt, you have no worries, and can travel as wish.

If you are not visa exempt, and want to travel without your PR card you have a few options:
1. on the way back travel to closest USA city, and then have someone pick you up with a regular car and cross the border with your "landing paper" -> CoPR
2. apply for a travel document
3. wait outside Canada until someone ships you your PR card when it arrives to your Canadian address

As far as I know, once you "land" as a permanent resident, all other visas (visit, work, study) are cancelled in their system and cannot be used anymore.

Just landed! Currently it's 40 days approximately to receive the card, right? If so, I'm expecting it to be mailed around May 15th. Shall we follow up with CIC by phone about the status of this?
