The conservative government promises to decrease Citizenship processing times to less than a year while it takes them 92 days to just print a PR card... this is insane...
waiting for 93 days now ... i have been calling CIC for a month and all they say .. it is almost finished... the CIC system is too retarded..

No one cares about how this is affecting us and our work!!! my kids want to go in the summer to visit their grandpa and grandma... but i couldn't book them a flight as we have no cards!!!

Received my card today! Finally!

97 days for me. Landed Feb 27, Card received today June 4th.

No complications or anything. Seems I was in the same batch of people who are getting their cards this week. Ecas showed in processing May 26 (even though I had called a couple weeks earlier and they said they were processing it then)
Ecas showed complete on Monday June 2nd, like a few others.

I'm in BC, think that's why it takes a day or so longer for the mail to arrive from Nova Scotia.

I was glad to see the expiry date on the card is 5 years from date of issue NOT date of landing, haha I was kind of expecting them to do that and lose the 3 months. anyway so it has an expiry of May 2019. I will be guarding this card with my life now I have waited so long for it haha.

Finally time for my vacation now! Good luck to everyone else! I'm sure things can only get faster from here. (97 days seems ridiculous for a single card with no complications.)

Congrats! I got mine too. It seems they really process them in a queue as first come first serve. Unlike how they handle the immigration applications.
Anyways now this is over and we can enjoy the summer :)

Congratulations ghatot201 and ferna!! :)
so once the ecas shows some update, the processing is faster..

How to check the status of PR Cards for dependents?
Does the ecas of Primary applicant show all the dependents as well or do I have to login as dependent to check the status?

ok so if the date on the card is the date at which it is printed and not the date we landed, do we loose the 3 months we waited to get it? I have no plans to stay here for more than 2 years ( not continuous too) so each day is v important for me.

No, you become a permanent resident the day you land, not the day your card is issued.

ok good to know...so we can count the waiting period as a part of the 2 yrs? if so why dont they just print the card for 5 years from the date we landed? doesn't it make more sense then and less confusion? ;D

Because it's an ID card, not a membership card. ID cards have date of issue. The card has nothing to do with date of landing.

so basically when we renew the card next time, they will take into account the waiting period right?
When your card is expired, you have to go and renew it. At that time you have to prove that in the past five years you have been in Canada for 730 days.
So if your card is expired in May 2019, you have to prove that you were in Canada for 730 days from May 2014.

From CIC website:

Minimum residency obligations, You must meet the residency obligation to obtain a Permanent Resident Card.
If you have been a permanent resident for five (5) years or more
you must have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days within the past five (5) years.

But we will have to start the renewal process 6 months prior to expiry date based on Processing time.
So, you will have to prove that you were in Canada for 730 days may be in Dec 2018 while applying for renewal considering that the card expires in May 2019

Yes, you are right. I found this on the CIC website:

Most PR cards are valid for five years. You should renew your card within six months of when it will expire.

thats what my point is...they do not issue the card with the date when we landed so what about all the time we waited to get the card?
say i landed in April and I get my card in July with the expiry date till July 2019 and as per a your post, we have to fulfil the 730 days from july 2014 to july 2019.! ok fine...bt what about the time I waited to get the card from APRIL to JULY?
