Well you were right... *sigh*

It used to be that the weekly increments in processing time were less than 7 days. That just changed with going from 85 to 92, in theory halting the processing.

A couple of weeks ago the wait time increased by 8 days in the space of 1 week.

When i landed the processing time was 37 days... well a big jump from that now!

You can re enter Canada with your COPR if you travel by car. The problem is if you want to travel by plane (or commercial bus) to Canada you'll not be allowed to enter the plane (bus) without a travel document. That's why people with a valid US visa drive by car to the US and board the plane there (the same on their way back).
The reason is that the airport employee abroad don't know what Canadian COPR is.

I dont agree with you. CIC single handedly creates issues for new landed immigrants and purposely blocks them from travelling. The US will endorse new immigrants' passports with an I-551 stamp, which grants them the right to return to the US while they are waiting for green cards. CIC could have done something similar. I could never understand the logic behind blocking new immigrants from travelling abroad. The so called "travel document" is such a scam and serves nothing meaningful rather than generating some extra cash for CIC, not to mention that now with so many overseas embassies closed for visa services, it can take more than a month to get a travel document for those who are from visa-required countries. Before PR card was introduced in early 2000s, COPR was the only document required to return to Canada, so the airport employees overseas definitely could accept them had CIC not endorse them with "NOT VALID FOR TRAVEL"!

Another way to do it, and probably a lot simpler, is to basically issue multi-entry PR visa, which can be valid until one receives a PR card. Again there are many ways that CIC can utilize to ensure the freedom of travel for new immigrants. The fact that they NEVER did anything just shows how idiotic the system is. HOW CAN THE PROCESSING TIME FOR PR CARD INCREASE FROM 45 DAYS TO 95 DAYS IN 2 MONTHS?????? Seriously I would fuck everyone at CIC with a cactus without a blink.

Its surprising Canada is still the Canada i love with a bunch of fools running it. Hopefully we see better times. If and WHEN I am able to vote I am never ever going for the Cons because they are just that, a bunch of cons.

So they're basically not processing cards at all... ???

I really don't get the hold up with it?

The newly lander PRs have just had an interview with CBSA (or CIC if inland) to confirm all eligibility. This should be as simple as taking the form, removing the photo, checking it is good and creating the card.

I have a feeling they're having issues with the actual machine that creates the cards?

They do seem pretty short staffed, if anyone is looking for a new career path then the CIC seem to have plenty of work...

Your reply makes sense... :) I think CIC staffs looking for some overtime $$...so, they wanted to spend some easy hours on already approved applications in the name of processing PR cards...may be they are making artful hand crafted PR cards..!!!!

;D hhahaha

hello.. I hope someone can answer me..

Do I need to be physically present in Canada to receive my PR card?
I am planing to leave Canada for about month and I hope in the meantime my card arrives and my friend can collect it.
Can my friend pick my card and courier it to me and I can re-enter Canada with my PR card?

The card goes to you address. If you friend can get any other mail for you he can do the same for PR card.

Congrats! I got mine too. It seems they really process them in a queue as first come first serve. Unlike how they handle the immigration applications.
Anyways now this is over and we can enjoy the summer :)
