I am on the same boat as you. Each time we reach the processing time shown on CIC page, they increase the number. I bet they'll do the same anytime now!

We have passed the processing time by 2 days now. And you know what bugs me more? If you call CIC, they ask you to wait 2 weeks before they can initiate/trigger a response. Does not help!!

what's all the fuss about, you can still travel without the pr card, just bring your COPR and stamp in your passport with you so you can show them when you re-enter, they will look you up in the system. They can't legally refuse a permanent resident entry into Canada!

Some commercial carriers require a visa to let you board a plane, bus or ferry. And the CPR is not considered a travel
document and they might refuse you. The problem is not the CBSA or CIC, it's the carrier or the country you're leaving
if they check your visa.

in my case I have work permit with validity till Dec2014 and I am a landed immigrant in March and waiting for PR card.

can I visit my visa required country and come back basing on the work permit/multiple entry visa though I am a landed immigrant absent a PR card?

nee to travel in June for a family function

any other suggestions to circumvent this archaic and cumbersome issue. thanks in advance for your guidance
