Waiting for PR Card after landing - add your case here

Processing time is now up to 54 days.

And they decreased the time for renewed PR.

Landed on January 18th, phoned the call centre a few weeks ago and was told my PR card was mailed out on February 23rd and to wait till 6 weeks have passed from the mailing date before contacting them again. I also confirmed that the address they have on file is correct. I will hit the 6 week mark next week on April 5th. At this point, I'm fairly certain that Canada Post has misdelivered/lost my PR card. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement, they really need to add some sort of tracking for documents as important as a PR card. In the meantime, I suppose I'll read up on how to file a solemn declaration for a lost/stolen/destroyed/never received PR card.

6 weeks to get a mail is really long. It usually takes one week max.

I landed this weekend (March 27) - the border guard told me 6-8 weeks for the card, although I guess looking at this thread that might be optimistic :/

He asked me if I have any travel plans coming up - when I told him I needed to travel in June (back to the UK) he told me if the card hadn't arrived by then I could travel just using my COPR, as I am from a visa exempt country. However, I'm also seeing stuff on the forum that suggests that might not be so easy. Any thoughts on what to do if it gets to that stage?

You can not travel without a PR card on a commercial carrier. If you plan on travelling back into canada on a car through US, then u can use ur COPR.

Seems it's better in Alberta

It has been over 180 days since I first landed and I could not own any ID with photo due to the lack of PR card, strange policy in BC. I know that in old times people can apply for a formal driver's license with landing papers.

I was told my PR card went into production yesterday. I'm meant to be travelling overseas very shortly so I'm trying to work out if I need to cancel my trip. I'm in Calgary, Alberta.

I have been trying to call them since last week. And each time i get the same message: we r experiencing a high volume of calls and cant transfer you to an agent.
