guyz, can someone pls tell me the difference btw copr and record of landing? are they the same? also, I will like to know whether I can apply for ohip immediately after receiving my visa or I have to wait till I land? pls respond

UJ baby. These are same documents:

Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
An official document issued to a person when they arrive in Canada as a permanent resident. Before June 28, 2002, the document issued was called the Record of Landing (IMM 1000).

OHIP- I'm not really sure on this one. I need to know myself. I guess it depends on which province you are. I heard in Ontario, they make you wait for 3 months? (please ..someone confirm this). And in AB or BC, they give it the day you go to Service Canada...(again..pls confirm).

UJ baby. If i got it correct from the OHIP website, you will have to wait 3 months after your landing to be eligible for OHIP. Here's what the OHIP website tells:

Eligibility

Ontario residents are eligible for provincially funded health coverage (OHIP). Generally, to be eligible for Ontario health coverage you must :

- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or among one of the newcomer to Canada groups who are eligible for OHIP as set out in Ontario's Health Insurance Act ; and
- be physically present in Ontario for 153 days in any 12-month period; and
- be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province; and
- make your primary place of residence in Ontario.

OHIP coverage normally becomes effective three months after the date you establish residency in Ontario. The ministry strongly encourages new and returning residents to purchase private health insurance in case you become ill during the OHIP waiting period.

hello Yahoo7, thanks for your comments. My application was for me and my family. I don't know how much longer can take to process an application for a whole family vs individual one.

I also applied with my family, just 2 applicants..passport delivered to Ottawa on Aug 30 and still waiting for the tracker to activate...my noc code is 2171...do you mind sharing urs..I am just waiting eagerly for the passport since I have a trip to my home country coming up soon..

Somebody nows is there any difference between a single applicant processing time or between a family? We have send two passport to CIC.

You seem to be a new member in this forum. Please publish your timelines. Also, there is no difference between processing timelines for a single app or family, atleast CIC does not differentiate like that....every case is unique and the time lines vary from case to case and it depends on lot of factors like backgroun check, criminality check and security checks...

There is no difference! I applied with my family, our passports returned after 1 week. But waiting time varies from person to person ... Not sure why.
