Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around much but just wanted to update I landed today! I am in Winnipeg so I landed at Emerson and here is what happened, if anyone plans to do the same.

Channelers send your prints to the FBI and then get a response right back. However, they don't necessarily keep them on record on the FBI and can't generate a 'regular' request. Consider asking your channeler if they can print your fingerprints on a fingerprint card so you can mail it in to the FBI.

The FBI describes the channeler process on their website if you want additional details.

They didn't/don't print anything, it's all sent in electronically. I'm going to try and contact something by Thursday and see if I can get an official certificate of sorts. It looks like if I need something apostilled I'm going to have to submit my request directly to the FBI, but I'm going to submit my current print out and add an explanation to my submission. We'll see if that works.

SPONSORSHIP APP, EVAL & QUESTIONNAIRE HELP!

EVAL-box 3 wants net personal income for the 12 months preceeding the date of application.
Are we supposed to guess-timate if it falls mid-year? The previous years income tax isn't sufficient?

QUESTIONNAIRE-Question 4 wants mother and father's info.
What if you don't know some of the info and can't get it?? Name is known but u/k address/DOB/phone.

1. Try to get the info you can - if he was listed on your birth certificate then the date of birth should be on there too, for example. You can then limit your explanations to address (or just list it as unknown)

2. Can you use paystubs? Or bank statements to see deposits? CIC can ask you to prove anything on your application...

3. It's a very personal decision you need to make asking yourself what someone who doesnt know you may need ... some people send in a couple photos, others a long list of items....only you can decide what is right for you.

Please report back once you have a decision made so that folks know for certain that channeler police certificates are being accepted. The fact that they submit everything electronically makes it soooo much faster.

If you want a certificate straight from the FBI, you are going to need to send them your prints on a fingerprint card along with a letter of request, etc. The channeler option is faster, but a separate path. Some places can print out fingerprints taken electronically so you can mail them in.

Working on my own app for PR now- hubby's sponsorships are all but done!

The processing center I choose is going to be???

His is going to Mississagua. But then I thought, well, mine will be processed in Ottawa....so now I'm confused as to what to put on mine..the PR applicant because they get sent off together, but mine will be forwarded on after his is approved....(like that positive thinking??!! )

I just sched my medical exam and the RN said I needed to bring my passport, 2 passport size photos and my Schedule A?? Schedule A is the Background Declariation-they need that? In the instruction manual, it has an Appendix C to take to the medical exam.

Also, Form IMM008 in the Personal Information portion, question 3 asks for my UCI#...I don't have one and it won't allow me to put N/A, so should I use 888?

Leave it blank, it should allow that. As for the medical thing, uhh that's WEIRD.. Maybe she got mixed up. You need Appendix C and more than 2 photos. As they need one for the actual doctor, one for x-rays, one for blood work, and I'm pretty sure one more. I know in my husbands case they needed 4. Take schedule A anyway, but I doubt they will need that haha.

Working on Schedule A...and they want ALL my addresses since I was 18??!!! OMG I'm 43 now and when I was a nanny, I moved a LOT in the 90s and had PO Boxes because of it when I lived in NY & CT. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO???

Yikes! My husband had a similar problem because he was homeless for a short period and didn't know what to put. We just put HOMELESS LOL. I'd try to put as much as you know and then just add a note explaining that you were a Nanny and moved a lot so you can't remember all the addresses to a T.

Oddly enough, the background check places can usually dig up all your addresses for you. They charge a fee ($50-75) but when I did this on myself (AFTER I spent many hours sifting through 20 year old paperwork trying to find every address) I was amazed that they seemed to have every address I'd ever used, including PO boxes!

That's good information Parker and CG. But to spend more money....ish. I just laid down more $ for more computer ink...and then priced out the local paper to see if they'd print from my SD card, beings I had to take pics of the FB & Skype IMs for the last year....80 bucks!! And the medical next week for 300... then to apply is over 1000..... OMG!
