I (with my family) will be entering Canada next month under the CUSMA professional stream of the international mobility program. We do NOT have permanent residence. We will have a few things in the car, and we are having a pod shipped. I understand we need a detailed inventory of our household goods, divided by things with us and goods to follow. I'm not sure what category we will be on form BSF186. The options are former resident, beneficiary, settler, or seasonal resident.
My situation doesn't seem to fit any. I'm not a "settler"- not establishing a permanent residence, and 9807.00.00 specifically excludes people coming for employment under 36 months as "settlers."
When researching bringing our car (temporarily), it seems we are classified as visitors and don't need to import the car even temporarily (we will be bringing it back to the US and leaving it here after two months).
So, all of that to say- is the BSF 186 necessary? And if so what box do we check? Thank you!
