Hey all, had a question, i believe the timeline has changed for US outland? If so can someone tell whats the approximate months now? Also, its gonna be a year today, and i believe my processing time would be up. Would it be wise to contact cic now about the status of an application, because everytime i did before they would reply " you are processing time is still in progress due to that we cannot answer that question".

Depends upon where your file is, but all the US offices are reporting 10-12 months last I checked.

Have you ordered your case notes? If not, I'd suggest doing so. You only want the electronic version, which they print off at the ATIP office in Canada and forward along to you. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/index.asp for information about ordering them.

If it's been a year, I can understand your frustration.

Good luck!

10 months for LA
10 months for Seattle
11 months for New York
12 months for Detroit
"how long it took to process 80 percent of all cases between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012"

The problem I see with these numbers is that they are basically pre-Buffalo closure numbers and they would be for files that had been referred to these offices, typically for interviews.

Check back in 12-18 months and we'll have better data. :'(

Merci Computergeek! I could have sworn LA was 11 months, but perhaps I was being a little pessimistic haha.

After getting the sponsorship approval in about 38 days, I'm optimistic. Call me crazy :-\ ;D

edited to add: I can also understand your frustration hsquared. That's a long time to wait :(

Once you receive the CORP, within what time do you need to land in Canada? months?

Generally it is the earlier of your medical expiration or your passport expiration. According to the CIC manuals, it must be at least two months although I've heard of people getting as little as two weeks notice.

LOL. My medical has already expired...i dont know if they will extend it to a year or not?

They will either request that you re-do it, or they will extend it for 12 months as per the Operational Bulletin. But it's up to the VOs discretion on what to do.

Urgh, that would suck, anyways this is what i had received last from the ottawa office after several emails to them:
Good day,

Thank you for your enquiry. Your file was transferred to this office following the closure of Buffalo. We ask for your understanding that we are now working through a large number of files which have been transferred at the same time. No further action is required by you at this time.

We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

Warm regards,

Case Processing Pilot - Ottawa | Centre de Traitement Pilote - Ottawa – 123

Do you think they will ask for a redo medical?

We don't have enough experience with Ottawa to know how to predict what they'll do at this point. Might as well pull out the magic eight ball and ask it... :'(

I see a lot of people getting letters from friends and family that know the couple. Is this a necessary/recommended step?

Considering how much some of my husband's friends curse, it could either be hilarious or horrid.

We have a good deal of proof for our relationship (748 pages of Yahoo chat.... I'm NOT printing all that out, just some. Unless we need a forest leveled?) 30 some pages of Skype calls, 13 pages of FB wall posts, screengrabs of our Engagement and Wedding announcement on Facebook (showing his dad liking them, wha haha!), and wedding pictures. We only have 1-2 pictures of us together outside of the wedding..... I hide from the camera. :) Also we both signed our apartment lease, have a joint bank account, and I'm an add-on to his Telus account for our cell phones. I can't obtain phone records from Virgin Mobile USA, because they refuse to give them to me (I filed a compliant with the BBB, but I'm not expecting it be resolved before we filed.) I do have the emails from customer support telling me they can't help, however..... Would it still be wise to get letters? Especially since we lack photos?

This is always a judgment call - when you look at the evidence, do you think it demonstrates a genuine relationship? If you are completely convinced, you probably have enough. If you do have people write letters, I'd suggest giving them a draft to work from - that allows you to say the letter is from them BUT also to make sure you control the structure of it enough to ensure it says what you need it to say.

Good luck!

Has anyone who's file was in Buffalo received anything from Ottawa after Buffalo office was closed and file transferred to Ottawa?

The Medical were passed in January 2012, the RPRF was paid in April 2012, and as per GCMS notes the file was transferred to Ottawa in July 2012. The status in eCAS not changed for last 9 months (still showing IN PROCESS, with MEDICAL RECEIVED), neither we receive any communications from Ottawa, and they are not responding neither mails nor faxes. So disappointing... and Medical expires in less than 2 months !

Hello all,

Was hoping for some help on understanding this matter.

I just received an email from CPP-O stating:

"This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

In order to continue processing your application, the following is required:

Ø Certificat de sélection du Québec from the ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles for yourself.

Please note:
All documents must be accompanied by English or French translations. When original documents are requested, notarised documents are not acceptable.

The above information/documents must be received in our office within 60 days from the date of this letter. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application. Please quote your complete application number on your correspondence and address your correspondence to CPP-Ottawa at the address indicated below."

I have received my CSQ about a month ago along with a letter stating that they will transmit the relevant information of the issuance of my CSQ to the Canadian visa office CTD de OTTAWA. Also in this letter written in bold font was the statement, Care must be taken not to misplace the original copy of this certificate, as you will be required to produce it in order to receive various Quebec Government services.

So am I supposed to send in my original CSQ so they can finish processing my application or should they have this information already? If I do send it in will I get it back?

Either way this is very good news I believe. I never expected to hear anything at this point as my sponsor was just approved less than 3 months ago.
