Hello, Im currently living in san diego,CA, USA. I'm sending my wife my application so we can send the sponsor forms all together to Ottawa. I already did my medical examination and sent it to Ottawa. I'm confused to what Visa office I should write to have the application processed, I was under the impression that it was in Ottawa but I have been reading that I should write a Visa office in US. In my application form IMM0008 question 4 "Immigration office requested for processing this application" I put, Ottawa as well.Since I am in San Diego I was thinking of writing L.A. but again I am unsure if I need to or just leave it all to be processed in Ottawa.

from CIC
If you are an American or national of another country currently residing in the U.S. or Canada and want to submit a permanent resident application:

[...] Family Class applications must also first be mailed to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (CPC-M). Applications that have been screened for positive eligibility will be sent directly to CPP-O for further processing. Applicants should indicate “CPP-O” as the processing office where indicated in their application.

Any ideas?, thank you :)

It doesn't matter what you write: Ottawa, LA or Buffalo. CPC-M will make it go to the right visa office.

The ONLY time this choice really matters is when you qualify to go through multiple offices. For example, a US citizen legally admitted to France for at least a year can choose the US office (CPP-O/LA apparently) or they can choose Paris. If they put down Islamabad, my guess is that CPC-M would send it to CPP-O/LA, even though Paris is an option and is faster.

That's a nice find. Why bother putting that in any of the actual directions when you can bury it in a press release?

Maybe you should consider getting more fingerprints and getting new FBI certificate? I don't know what fieldprint is, but you have such a long time to wait you could get regular FBI prints, wait the 9-13 weeks or whatever ridiculous time it is now, and if there is a problem with your current prints and CIC requests new ones, you just have to pop them in the mail?

I got my prints throgh a channeller so I wouldn't have to wait so long. 99% sure those are accepted, but anybody have any thoughts on that? I am well into stage 2 by this point, I wonder if they would have requested them if my current ones weren't good. Of course, my file has probably remained unopened since Ottawa received it :(
I have the paperwork, but fieldprint is also an approved channeler and I already paid $48 for that process. Looking at another $28 to get them through the FBI directly. I'll probably look into that later this week, I just wish the CIC would list channelers they accept on their site and make this process a bit less...unknown :)

Isn't ECAS only really updated on Tuesdays? I check it Tuesday and maybe once more on Thursday, but other than that, I don't bother. 1) Don't want to drive myself nuts 2) some people never get ECAS updated and then receive PPR.

Not suggesting people shouldn't check it, but if I checked it 4x daily, I'd lose my mind....

Sign up for ECAS tracker. It will automatically email you if there's a change in your record (no need to check). This is a free tool that was created by one of our long time members here (matthewc).

So it's trusted?? Is there a delay in the notification? :)

It's definitely a trusted site. Matthew (creator) is a great guy who went through the sponsorship process himself and you can read more about him on the site.

I can't remember how often this system polls ECAS tracker for updates. It's either daily or several times per day. If you reach out to Matthew through his site - I'm sure he'll be more than happy to tell you how it works. If you search through this forum, you'll also find posts by Matthew (matthewc) explaining how the program works.

My husband and I used Matthew's site when we went through the sponsorship process.

WOOHOO!! Just got my FBI clearance in the mail. Beings our applications have already been sent to Mississauga, should I send the FBI rerport to Ottawa, so it's waiting for my (PR Applicant) file or to Mississauga?

Any idea how the envelope should be addressed? I'll be sending it Express Post as it needs to reach them before the 16th so it's within the 90 days.

Thanks!

Got our notes dated in August, 2012.
File transferred to Ottawa from Buffalo July 07, 2012 (after a year of collecting dust)
Primary Office : Ottawa
Secondary Office: Buffalo (still?! :o)

This is an artifact of the system from what I can tell (the primary becomes secondary when a new primary office is assigned).

Fees & Receipts: US outland applicants' thread :)

First, thank you ALL for your participation! I've learned so much from these forums. I have two questions regarding the application fees and receipts. My Canadian husband is sponsoring (only) me from within the US. We paid online last night--$550 for the application fee and $490 for the PR fee. The receipts have blanks for Name, Address, "Client Date of Birth," etc. Do I fill these in with my name, etc. Am I the client? Or do I leave this blank?
And where in the package do the receipts go? I don't find this info anywhere in the checklists.
We have it all together, just checking for signatures and all tonight, and getting it all organized. This is a LOT of work! Sponsoring my husband for his Green Card was much easier (but then, we hired an attorney and it was pre-9/11).

Thanks again for your help! :D

Oh, duh! ??? I just CLOSELY read the Sponsor Document Checklist--and there's the info re fee receipts--Item 4 of Sponsor Forms.

But I still don't know if I need to "fill in" the receipts.

Can anyone help?

Let's hope you never have to use that part.

It's to whom they would send the refund, if any, because the application withdrawn or rejected.

I thought the $490 PR fee wasn't due until after you were approved? Our application didn't require it, the site mentioned something about how we'll be contacted at a later date to pay the PR fee.
