Hello all,

Was hoping for some help on understanding this matter.

I just received an email from CPP-O stating:

"This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

In order to continue processing your application, the following is required:

Ø Certificat de sélection du Québec from the ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles for yourself.

Please note:
All documents must be accompanied by English or French translations. When original documents are requested, notarised documents are not acceptable.

The above information/documents must be received in our office within 60 days from the date of this letter. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application. Please quote your complete application number on your correspondence and address your correspondence to CPP-Ottawa at the address indicated below."

I have received my CSQ about a month ago along with a letter stating that they will transmit the relevant information of the issuance of my CSQ to the Canadian visa office CTD de OTTAWA. Also in this letter written in bold font was the statement, Care must be taken not to misplace the original copy of this certificate, as you will be required to produce it in order to receive various Quebec Government services.

So am I supposed to send in my original CSQ so they can finish processing my application or should they have this information already? If I do send it in will I get it back?

Either way this is very good news I believe. I never expected to hear anything at this point as my sponsor was just approved less than 3 months ago.

I would think you would send a copy, but I could be wrong. There is a few people who have gone through this, hopefully they can chime in. But I'm about 60% sure it's a copy they want.

Thanks parker24, that's what I'm going to do. I'll send a copy and if they need the original I'm sure they'll let me know.

Hi all - a little bit of movement on my case.

Last week I emailed my mp and CIC sent them a detailed response as to the status, and funniy enough sent me a request for further information as well. I need to obtain a copy of court transcripts from an offence dating back to 1998 to see if they will deem me inadmissible / or if I need to apply for rehablitation.

Funnily enough there still is no requirement for further medicals????? But I will be staying up tl the wee hours of the morning tonight and contacting the magistrates court in the UK thats dealt with it.

So whilst this isn't great news at least they (and my MP for whom I can only presume gave CIC a little shove in the right direction) actually did do something.

I have til December 8th to get this info to them. Sigh.

My wife (sponsor) just received her approval to sponsor me today :D They said my application is now being sent to Ottawa.

Congratulations! May your second stage processing time be short.

I know right! but it took them a whole 8 months to realise that the information they requested at the beginning of the year wasn't sufficient. I am hoping to hell that it doesn't take them another 8 months before they get to look at the new infor once its sent.

On the plus side if it does - i'll win the prize for the longest processing time for an application ever ;)

(that's humour btw - I know there are people in other classes etc that are and have waited far longer than me!)

Nope. A couple months back I exchanged messages with someone who had been waiting six years for second stage approval of his inland application. All CIC would say is that it was "normal processing times". It does seem that when CIC closes offices and move files some things sort of "get lost" - his application had been transferred to three different inland offices.

I was merely trying to point out that it COULD be worse, so you'd feel better. :)

I hope your ordeal comes to closure soon, though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one going nuts already. I've decided to go back to school, but can't until hubby is working, so we're even more in limbo. Come on CIC, it's not like hubby is escaping poverty or anything!

I'm quite convinced I went off the deep end months ago. Yesterday when I got my latest GCMS notes for my file I went through them line by line and felt vindicated by the time I was done reading (the free-form notes at the end of the file are VERY interesting).

I'll order one more set of notes probably later this month, but I'm thinking that will be the last set I order, at least for this file.

Once I do land, I'm going to try and obsess about something BESIDES immigration for a while.

24 hours (or so) to visa in hand for you!

Assuming everything goes correctly, yes. I have a 4 hour video conference tomorrow morning, so once that's over my plan is to take the COPR and head to the border. This is one chapter of my life that I REALLY look forward to finishing - so many things have been put on hold for the past 4 years it's actually exciting thinking about them again.

This waiting is awesome. E-cas still just says "Application received" on the PR Application Status side. Nothing at all since our file was transferred over two months ago. Looking at the posts in here I'm not that surprised, either.

Wife update: going nuts sitting around the house while I go to work every day. Thinking about going home for a couple months starting with Thanksgiving and can't blame her.
