that isn't true at all. CIC won't know if the person is in canada or not, and it has NO bearing on the application processing tiem. i'm in canada visiting my husband, submitted my application in march and just got decision made.

what your attorney is probably referring to is the inland process vs the outland process appears to favor outland applicants in terms of processing times. either that or he's an idiot!

I see the decision made for you! That is wonderful!

Hey does anyone know approximately how long it took to hear from them if they have received and started processing your sponsorship application? I was stupid and didn't spend the extra $$ to track my envelope! Now I'm paranoid that they might not have received it and my information is lost, or I do know they can take awhile, but I'd just feel better if I knew they at least had it and started processing it!! It's been over a month since I sent out the application.

it's taking around 2 months, or longer for cic to notify the sponsor. Currently, the first notification from CIC is the sponsor approval. My suggestion is to join the june applicant thread so you can keep track of the progress. CIC just started processing june applicants, so you still have some time to wait.

Thanks so much! I didn't send mine in until near end of June. I also have to keep on my husband to keep checking his email and the mail so I make sure I don't miss any paperwork!

I am a PR in Canada and working in USA. My wife is studying in USA. I can file her spouse sponsorship in USA. I see sponsorship timelines for USA
as 13 months. I am wondering the members here have timelines about 3-4 months. I understand it is based on individual case but am I reading it fine.. that you are all applicants in USA and submitted your application to USA office (initially to mississauga and transferred to USA consulate).

Please someone clarify, if I am on right track.

I am from the US and I was processed from application received to COPR paper in exactly 115 days. I had no dependents, no children, no previous marriages, never attempted to immigrate before, no criminal activity, etc. If you have a straightforward case like this, it should take 3-5 months now :)

Correction for you: US applicants OUTLAND are sent to Mississagua then to OTTOWA for processing. The file only gets sent to LA/NY if they think you need an interview or are being fraudulent with them. In this case, you can tack on another year to the process for the interview, so being transferred is not a happy ordeal. Most Americans are NOT transferred and their application stays in Ottowa the whole time.

there seems to be some difference in the processing of 2013 applications and 2014 application. no one knows the reason why. The fact your file was transferred to LA suggests they will probably ask for an interview. It seems to be a trend that applicants applying from the US who are not US citizens are getting their files kicked back to LA. No one can say if this is normal protocol or new. It just seems to be a recent trend found on this forum. As jess noted, most US applications get processed in Ottawa, and are only sent to LA for further review because of some issue. Ottawa has completely sped up processing applications, and we hope it continues!

Bravo!! You have a lot of US based applicants hoping for a quick and positive resolution to their applications as well. I'm not looking for 3 months but would be very happy with 4 :D

Does anyone know where you can get Sponsorship photos done in the US? I'm sadly finding that most places will only do passport sizes, no "custom" sizes auuugh. Any leads would be great, thank youu <3

My hubby had his done at a UPS store.....they had custom software and were able to do it. It took a while to get them exactly the correct size. My husband just received his CORP and his photo was accepted. Try one of the store that also do fingerprints. They seen to have more services available
