Awesome, thanks for the reply! Now to rewrite my application lol

Hey guys. My husband is out of status in the USA and is a Philippines citizen. He qualifies for R-11 and we selected Los Angeles as the processing Visa Office. I just received sponsorship approval via CPP-O, but they forwarded my application to MANILA. Any idea why they forwarded it to Manila and not to the Los Angeles Visa Office?

CIC will forward applications to where they feel it is most relevant... it is up to them. Since he is a citizen of the Philippines and has no legal residency in the US, it would make sense they send it to the Manilla.

btw - Your post history is confusing. You mentioned in the past that you are a Canadian, sponsoring your Filipino wife who is out of status in the US. Now you are saying you are sponsoring your Filipino husband, who is out of status in the US. Which is it?

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback.

it is Filipino husband. Sorry for the confusion.

Just sent in my application yesterday :o ;D ! I haven't noticed yet but is there a thread and/or spreadsheet for January spousal applicants? I like seeing what's going on. ;)

Congratulations and good luck!

Congrats Blueangel!! I just received my Sponsor approval yesterday so my file was transferred to Ottawa. Going through quebec so I have the extra step of applying for CSQ.

I'd really like to see Ottawa picking up on the activity once more. I would hate to see another increase in processing times again.

Me too, but it's probably going to take a while to compensate for the Manila backlog. Also, I have to do the CSQ as well :( . Sigh. I hate it how they seem to want to make things harder ( no offense, just an opinion ).

New to this thread and just wanted to share my exciting news. My Canadian husband is sponsoring me (American) and we received his sponsorship approval on January 10. We submitted our application on December 6.

Fingers crossed everything will go smoothly and they will process me quickly!

We were anticipating having the NYC office process it (didn't realize that most went to Ottawa) and were thrilled to see that the processing time for Ottawa is about 7 months shorter than for NYC.

All applications go to Ottawa. For complex applications (or whatever other reasons CPP-O uses) your application may be sent to NYC or LA. But Ottawa is the clearinghouse - like Buffalo used to be the clearinghouse for all US applications.

NYC and LA post longer times because they are processing complex applications - things that require interviews, ARCs, TRPs, etc.

You may also find it informative and useful to read and monitor the CPP-Ottawa thread and spreadsheet. I learned a lot of helpful things for US applicants there. Best of luck with the process.

Hello everyone!

I am so happy that I found this thread after months of looking into this forum!

Im from Montreal and my husband is american. We are now in the final stages of prepping our application (waiting on relationship statements from cose friends and parents, printing, organizing, etc). We should be able to send our application by the end of next week but something I just read in this thread worries me. We have not received the FBI clearance. it was filed in the first week of the year so it should still take a few weeks before we receive it. We were planning on sending in our file and then send the FBI clearance after so that we could get through Step 1 (since only the sponsor is evaluated) but now I am thinking that its not such a good idea... Can it really add up a few months to our applications? Anyone has done this and did not encounter any problem? What would you recommend?

It took us about 6 weeks to get the FBI clearance. By the time I sent in our PR application the clearance had expired but I sent it anyway with a note that another FBI clearance letter was requested and would be sent to them later. It didn't cause any delays in processing as we received SA in less than 30 days.

Hey everyone,

1. We received your application for permanent residence on December 3rd 2012.
2. Medical results received
3. We started processing your application on December 17th 2013.
4. Interview scheduled for December 16th 2013.

I am from a visa exempt country and I attended the interview, the officer also said I passed the interview. It's been over a month and my status still says "in process". What does all this mean? When can I expect to hear something? Thank you.
