I'm out of luck. No TD bank in the Midwest :-X
I have an account with TD in Alberta. It's my husbands but I'm under his account too. Perhaps they ll give him some suggestions. I will ask him to call them tomorrow.

Yea Scotiabank is great for lots of things if you like "small fees"

Maybe I'm just bitter because of how they've treated us for the short time we've had a credit card with them LOL
Yikes! I've never had a credit card with them, probably won't until my credit rating is cleaned up. I did have a visa with RBC and MC with BMO. I HATE RBC with a passion, or at least, the local branch. Extremely rude and ignorant. Wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain I'm hearing impaired and would start talking to whoever was with me instead! I left them and went to Scotiabank and now I have people who LISTEN TO ME haha. I never did close RBC account, but they never called to tell me I owe or anything *shrug*

I did not include any financial information on the b4. The agents ask the usual question about having $10000 with you. I have used PayPal, thing is they always put holds on your money when it gets here to Canada. I have heard not to close your US acct as it might be hard to reopen as a non resident. You can access your US money with an ATM card up to the limit. You could bring some cash what ever you feel comfortable carrying as long as it's not over $10,000. And you can open an account here with a US check with the understanding it will have a hold on it for about 15 days. RBC has an account you can hold in US dollars and then change it to Canadian when the exchange is favorable. TD has a north American account, I've been meaning to look into. We have been seasonal in Canada for almost 11 years. Still not a real efficient way to transfer cash without a hold on it. you maybe able to wire money, which has a cost to it. You could check into that. But you have to have a destination. check with your bank before you leave. If they will do that.
I use HSBC. I can transfer money instantly between my US and Canadian accounts. They're not the cheapest option, but I move enough money every month that the flexibility and better exchange rates I get make it worthwhile.

This whole thing about RBC laying off workers and outsourcing their jobs to a company bringing in temporary foreign workers has definitely annoyed me about them right now - there's enough anti-immigrant sentiment as-is without using foreign workers as a tool for driving down worker's wages.

I'll say this without any animosity towards the immigrants, but it is ironic that companies usually outsource jobs to countries whose citizens are flooding Canada.

Without checking to see if they speak English. Thus why I refuse to call any call centre myself. I use a teletype phone for the deaf for that.

That's the exact problem we have with Scotiabank, every time we have to go in for something we get treated like crap and everyone is rude. We had to go through them on the phone to even get the credit card because the people at the branch wouldn't even talk to us. That's why I like the credit union we have so much, they always recognize us and they are always so nice. But the fees that rack up because of too many transactions are just too much so it's time to switch.

It's funny that some branches are great and some are terrible, no matter what bank it is haha. I will admit though, there are two Scotiabank Branches in my city and I REALLY hate the downtown one. They are crazy rushed and make you feel like you're a number bah!

Regarding driving a car into Canada to fisit. Can you do so with paper plates? Say you just bought the vehicle outright, no loan, have insurance, proof of sale (not sure on title since it's new).

Also anyone know if you can drive a car in the nexus lane if you didn't register it with nexus?

Not clear what you are asking? What are paper plates? Temporary? Do you have a registration? Is it that you are visiting?

Yes, temporary plates like when you first buy a car. I'll be visiting, yes.

Expect a LOT of issues driving into Canada on temporary plates. Car smuggling is a serious problem. If you are IMPORTING it there won't be an issue, but I've read several horror stories of people coming for a visit with temporary car plates.

You can drive any car in the nexus lane - I use rental cars all the time and drive through the Nexus lanes.

Thanks computergeek. That's what I figured. I'll wait until the permanent plates come in then.

OK the B4 form is a bit confusing. What is the country of export? Is it USA since i am taking my car from usa to Canada? Somebody mentioned to keep in blank since i am not exporting anything? And what is the K22/Vehicle form number under conveyances. The whole form is a bit confusing in my opinion.

On the bottom of the form, it asks classification type. Wondering if i would be settler but it states something about staying in excess of 12 months. I plan to land and come back to the US.

Also if i am not taking anything other than clothes when i first land but do plan to get my car with stuff in it in the next month or so, so i need to fill just 1 form i.e.goods to follow. So, i fill the form and just tick the option on the B4 form "Goods to follow". There is also 'Additional list of goods : Form B4A, Movers Inventory, Other. Do i need to check any of those boxes. Sorry too many questions. Thanks.

I thought the B4 forms were the most stressful forms to fill out. So as I look at my form I put country of Origin USA and country of export Canada. It says in the top left hand corner that shaded areas are for CBSA only so I left the K22 space blank. I think Settler is the correct choice. I think the twelve month thing implies that your intention is to live there not just visit for a year . Again that is what I checked and nothing was said. I only checked goods to follow , additional goods. I then filled out a B4 for the next crossing, which for me is mostly vehicles. I suspect you only to need to check if they apply. If you are using a moving company. No problem with the questions. I think that none of it is very clear. Happy to help as I can.
