OK, it's official.. The London VO is taking the ****.

They have just asked me for my personal history from age 18 for question 8 in IMM5669. However, the form clearly states from age 18 OR the past 10 years, whichever is the most recent. I gave them over 30 years worth, which was a single job, while living at a single address, and they STILL want all the way back to age 18!!

I get the impression that this is a delaying tactic. What do others think?
Just got the same email this morning...was thinking the same thing, but at least they have looked at something! It was a complete pest though and took over my whole morning, trying to remember all the temping jobs I had at age 18/19!

Sorry...I probably should have introduced myself since I'm new!

I'm currently being sponsored by my Canadian husband for PR. Our application was received 21 Feb 2013 and transferred to London 18 March 2013. I'm finishing up my PhD whilst I wait for PR, but my husband has had to go back to Canada to work. He managed to make some swaps with colleagues to come and visit me for a couple of weeks, but had to go back on Saturday :( So I was gonna get my head down and get some work done, but got the email requesting that I remember what dead end jobs I had when I was 18, so today turned into an immigration day!!

I'll have to get back down to the work tomorrow!

Welcome indeed! and - congrats on the "fast" timeline so far... your file was received less than 3 months ago in London and they are already looking at it, that's some good news - even if they are asking for more info, at least somebody is looking at your file! :)

A few people on here and other forums have also been asked for it, im not sure why. I only did the last 10 years and havent been asked for it, then again I am still waiting so they might. Not sure if it is a delaying tactic but I think if the VO wants all the way to 18 then the form should be changed.
Changed, printed, signed and on it's way by Special Delivery. It's a very long time since I was 18 and to be honest, a lot of information has been lost, such as exact dates and addressed. Many of the companies and places no longer exist. Trying to rebuild your life history from scraps of memory is HARD work!

Tell me about it! I even struggled to put together 7 years of history. The ambiguity of the question really annoys me. Or rather, the lack of ambiguity that they interpret incorrectly. They should just change the question to reflect that they want everything since the age of 18 and call it a day. Anyway, your file is open and being assessed so that's good news. Hope you're done soon Zardoz.

Yes they've asked quite a few people for this. Me included.

The thing that irritated me was that I covered 11 years and that went back until I was 17. Covered both counts and still some numpty in London couldn't read it right and asked for it. We just re-sent the original and drew attention to the fact it was right the first time.

Looks like they really need to learn to proof-read better eh?

Hi folks, I am in a similar situation as some of the previous posters. I just went into 'in process' and am being asked for personal history since I was 18. I am wondering if I should mention the fact that I have been in Canada for the last 5 months visiting my husband while waiting for PR, or is there no need for that? The other option would be to say I am living in the UK currently (which is true since I am really just visiting Canada).

Thanks

Just to amuse everyone, here is the exact text of the request. I've obfuscated the date a little. The gramatical errors are in RED

"Schedule A - Personal History

Please be advised that we require you to complete you personal history going back to when you was 18, currently on file you have only gone back to Month 19xx."

Do CHC agents need to pass IELTS?

Oh well, as someone else said, at least we know they have our application. Let's put a positive spin on it and take this as an unofficial AOR. Unfortunately, this will likely put our application back to the bottom of the pile. So unimpressed right now. :(

Hilarious! I wish they had sent me such an amusing email...sadly mine, grammatically speaking, was nothing to complain about!

My husband's passport has been with London a couple of days shy of a month. They already made a decision. Why do they need it for so long?

I did 10 years and haven't heard anything about it yet. I can't even remember months and for how long I did things right after high school (graduated 2000). I guess I just make a list for it just in case.

Haha, I also just saw that I made the first list wrong to CIC, made the spreadsheet myself (couldn't fit, I cant understand how they expect to fit all that info in like 5 boxes) and by mistake copied the same dates and accidentally added a 2006 to much :p

Had to do one more of these for applying for my PGWP, that was also 10 years or until 18
