Yes -my wife is from NZ and I'm here in BC.
The Sydney office touchwood has shown good processing... I stay optimistic! Thank you to all...without the board or thread this would have been much tougher due to the ambiguity of some of the steps or requirements, etc. My wife will be here soon and so I'm obviously looking forward to that.

Thanks to smart phones...I jump at every ding when my email goes off! Ironically... I didn't see or hear today's AOR and caught it on a whim as gmail categorized it in a different tab!

Doesn't seem like a lot of Syd applications in early progress still?
Cheers all!

We only had about 20 pictures stretched over 10 years so we did the humane thing: )

Don't worry about it for now.

G'luck

Mine arrived at Missisauga exactly a week ago now, so I'm now waiting. Freaking out about how little info I put in relationship proof (wedding photos, 20 pages of facebook photos/statuses from our relationship). But Benjis_monkisuss says I can send more later so that's good. Have you received your AOR yet?

Oh duuuuhhh, I totally forgot you haven't landed yet haha. Don't mind me, I function on minimal sleep and my brother called me from Aus last night... At midnight lol. I guess I'm waiting on Torvic then haha. I'm hoping the times are relatively accurate and I can be expecting it mid next month!
Probably another fortnight for us at least, I'd say.

The most recent timelines have been pretty accurate at 51-56 days. Fingers crossed for mid- April!

So what happens if you cross in and out before your PR card arrives? Just a bunch of annoying questions?

I asked in another thread and one person reported no issues without the PR card and they just had to spend a bit of time waiting for a verification. But personally they may have had a good guard and I wouldn't want to take that risk myself...

For the land border...yes seems OK.

We crossed into the USA between landing and getting our PR Card in the mail. It wasn't an issue because the Canadian Border Agent knows you are a PR once the passport is scanned. We had a copy of the COPR just in case, but the officer never asked for it. This was at an airport so it might be the same at a land border.

The PR card arrived about a week after we returned from the USA.

Hi folks...

I know you are focusing on getting the Canadian paperwork and waiting for the process to be completed on this side of the world. But have you also done the reverse?

Have you also started or have completed getting Australian paperwork for your Canadian spouse? How was it? Similar? Much worst?

Cheers,

Cheers,
the Australian's wont' return the application incomplete, but they will ask you to fill other forms if they fell like it's necessary.
if a new version of the form comes out, you're expected to submit the newer version
the paperwork is quite similar, but anything not original needs to be certified true by a notary public, etc.
the upront medical option is a good option, but not required.
you are also not required to submit the criminal record check until they ask you to do so.
the cost is significantly higher.
and you don't get automatic or even conditional permanent residence, but rather temporary residence for 2 years, unless you satisfy their long-term relationship definition you'll get PR shortly afterwords...

Aaaah that's good to know, we have a cabin in the US so as soon as we get back we'll be crossing in and out quite often. As for getting Aussie residence for my fiancé, it's actually something we're thinking about starting soon while we're still here. The paperwork seems pretty similar and I think it's worth us both having dual citizenship down the track. More paperwork here we come...

No news via ECAS, but called and the agent said I was approved as sponsor on 3/25 and a letter was generated/ file transferred (electronically too...so much for all those real printed photos!!). I do wish their systems would all match but hey, I don't care right now!

They definitely send the photos through to Sydney don't worry, they returned all of ours in the same envelope as the COPR! I think I've said this already but just chill and don't worry too much about them updating you as it happens. The ECA's always takes a few days or more to update. I was holding my COPR in my hand before it updated online.
