Nod...

Never know when the economy might go sideways and there's at least another place both can work...:)

*sigh*... More paperwork... Hopefully some of the CIC stuff can be re-used once more. :)

Aaaah that's good to know, we have a cabin in the US so as soon as we get back we'll be crossing in and out quite often. As for getting Aussie residence for my fiancé, it's actually something we're thinking about starting soon while we're still here. The paperwork seems pretty similar and I think it's worth us both having dual citizenship down the track. More paperwork here we come...

Thanks for that...

But while you're on temp residence, can you work? I assume so? Not looking forward to another set of paperwork... :/

the Australian's wont' return the application incomplete, but they will ask you to fill other forms if they fell like it's necessary.
if a new version of the form comes out, you're expected to submit the newer version
the paperwork is quite similar, but anything not original needs to be certified true by a notary public, etc.
the upront medical option is a good option, but not required.
you are also not required to submit the criminal record check until they ask you to do so.
the cost is significantly higher.
and you don't get automatic or even conditional permanent residence, but rather temporary residence for 2 years, unless you satisfy their long-term relationship definition you'll get PR shortly afterwords...

Yes, you can definitely work. We submitted both Canada and Australia's paperwork. Canada's was returned incomplete :( and resubmitted it this march - it was receive 12 March - hopefully we'll get AOR soon and then get healthcare for the pregnant wife.

Australia didn't return our application back, but requested I complete an additional form, form 888 and all passport and traveler's history. They want very specific details, but the good thing is they go back and forth with you until they get the info. Still haven't heard from them. I recommend you submit ATIP requests to CBSA (travellor's histroy) and Passport Canada (all passports issued). It takes 30 days to get - in the meantime you can prepare the application between the proof/ material is essentially current and the same.

:o

Thanks for the reality check. :)

G'luck with your apps... :)

Hello everyone
Canada has already asked us to pay the Right to Permanent Residence and also police clearance to where i lived. Now the embassy here in Sydney only gave us a time frame of 2 weeks to send all the police clearance. Does anyone here encountered not sending the document on time? What did u do?

Hi guys,

I'm going in for my medical exam here in Vancouver on Thursday but I've put my back out and not too mobile.. What are they going to do tests on? Am I going to have to run on treadmills or anything physical that I won't be able to complete with a bad back?

I can just reschedule.. I haven't got any problems doing that.. No risks are going to be taken given I have 15mths left on my current IEC.. Just wanna get it right the first time.

Thanks!!

Mine was very quick and easy. Blood test, vitals and chest X-Ray. More time spent waiting than much else.

Thanks Benji! I'm here now at Dr Dwyers office on Broadway... just did the pee test but you're right.... It's more waiting than anything else. Thanks for the recommendation!!!!

My wife got an email from Sydney to say they received our application and it came with a 2nd UCI. Woohoo!

Quick question... is this what I meant to pay for my common law partner sponsoring me to come to Canada??

$75.00 sponsor
$475.00 principal applicant
$490.00 right to permanent residency

I just got confused as I saw the family member >22 yrs that is a common law partner for payment of $550.00 and wasn't sure if this was in addition to the $475, instead of the $475 or if I don't need to pay it for my circumstances.

Just want to clarify as after all this I don't want to be stumped on something so silly!

Yep that's right, $1040 all up!

Benjis and Torvic, did your PR cards show up yet? Time's flying, down to 3.5 months till we get back. Where has the year gone?!!
