Hello Community,

I hope that everyone is doing fine..

First of all, big congratulations to every applicant who became PR or who received FD, P1, P2 and ECOPR. Big congratulations to those members here who were finally reunited with their families in Canada. Please don’t forget us from your prayers.

Over the past few days, I read several interesting inputs here. There is a guy who is still waiting for completion of his security screening. He submitted his refugee claim in August 2023. It has been well over 38 months. The security screening is still not complete. He is still in the refugee claim stage. How tragic! My sincere prayers for him and everyone in a similar situation.

I read another comment by another member. He submitted his PR application in December 2025 for him and his In-Canada dependents, and he received FD and P1 recently. A Big Congratulations.

In the 2023 PR thread, there are still so many members who are still waiting finalization of their application, still ‘stuck’ in the security screening. Guys, you are not alone!

According to the data published in the IRCC’s estimated processing times – still not updated for October 2026 – there are still 2,500 PR applications for protected persons (Outside Quebec) from before 2023. There are 9,900 PR applications for December 2023 and earlier. There are 24,700 PR applications not finalized for December 2024 and before.

IRCC have been doing a great work over the last few months. I have been following the estimated processing time page for refuges. I can say that IRCC finalized 43,000 PR applications for protected persons over the past 11 months. I remember that at some point there were ~84,000 applicants ahead of me (August 2025). Now this number stands at 41,400.

The one-time initiative for protected persons is progressing well, with ~ 7,000 PR applications processed on a monthly basis. however, we all know that processing is not chronological. There are several factors, human and non-human, that contribute to an application being processed faster, much faster than another one, most importantly the security/ background check, the completeness of documents, the workload at the office, the ‘mood’ of the officer handling the application, etc.

Understandably, IRCC is focusing on those protected persons who have their families with them in Canada. They are fast-tracking them, in line with the published objective of the one-time initiative: To transition them from temporary status to PR.

Allow me to share this beautiful story: One friend from the same home country. He came to Canada 4 months after me. He submitted his refugee claim. Within 7 months, he got accepted without hearing. He submitted his PR application for him and his family outside Canada in August 2024. In July 2026, he became PR. His family outside Canada received their medical request, BIL and finally were requested to provide their passports for the visa. They joined him in Canada by mid September 2026, within 2 months after he became PR. No, not part of the pilot program.

Was it his sincere prayers? Was it sincere prayers of his wife? His mother? His father? Maybe!

Was it pure good luck? Was it the combination of stars in the sky? No one knows!

I felt so happy for him. In less than 34 months, he submitted the refugee claim, received PR and got reunited with his family.

Ther are people who waited for 30 months until they received their NOD.

There are people who waited for +40 months until they became PR.

There are people who spent over 7 years in Canada until they became PR.

And then we have the people living in Quebec, waiting indefinitely for a miracle, seeing protected persons outside Quebec getting their PR’s while they still have to wait for years.

For those still waiting, especially for those in Quebec and those stuck in security screening, I only have my prayers that a miracle will happen and your applications will be processed as fast as possible.

There are things in life that we have just to accept, especially those beyond our control. We can be angry, frustrated, sad, anxious, stressed, nervous, depressed. Unfortunately, no matter how we feel, it is not going to change anything.

On the other hand, if we hang tight with hope for a better tomorrow, and try to look to the full half of the glass, we may be better positioned to accept our fate and try what is in our hand and control.

Good luck everyone!

This was such a beautiful message. You truly made my day and I am glad that there are people out there who without any benefit to themselves still wish the best for others. Also thanks for the information you shared I am sure it helps many in these hard times.
To share my own story I've been away from my dependent for 7 years. I haven't been able to see my family for years and years. I'm a Jan 2024 PR applicant and still waiting for my PR to be processed. It's been 34 months of waiting and who knows when it will end!!!
I'm very happy for those who reunited with their family members but somewhere in my heart it hurts to not be able to see my family with me.
As you said it's ok be sad, it's ok to be anxious but this is a situation that's out of our hands. I believe I am just waiting for a miracle to happen.
For people waiting out there you're not alone and you're not unknown. Just remember that just like all the other hardships in your life that passed, this will pass too just be patient. They can't abandon our applications forever they must process our applications one day.
Best of luck

Every application has its own journey, and comparing timelines can sometimes make the wait even harder. Stay strong, everyone. Hopefully, our turn will come soon!
