@legalfalcon I applied for citizenship in Jan & my BG is in progress since 4-5 months. I had done fingerprinting for RCMP report 7 years back & also got it done for job related security clearance last year. Do you think it will help if I send any of these reports to IRCC through web form?

You can surely send them, but security screening is not done by IRCC. It is independently done by partner agencies, CBSA / CSIS /RCMP and these agencies only send a report to IRCC on which IRCC makes a decision.

@legalfalcon please I want to ask if it will have any effect on the duration or entire application. I studied for 4 years per the year frame I gave but in figure I wrote 3 instead. Will there be any challenges?

It will not be an issue. However, you could have clarified this in LoE.

Hi, thanks for providing valuable information in this forum. I have a PNP paper-based application and My CSIS notes show that the security screening is in progress since August 13, 2021, and CBSA notes show the same. How may I know if CBSA has been involved in my ss case and how may I know if this is a comprehensive security screening?

After found this ss is ongoing, I submitted another CEC application. Would this application will be evaluated independently from the existing PNP paper-based application? I added an explanation letter to clarify every activity in the past 10 years. Would there be a chance that this CEC application not going through the comprehensive ss?

Hi @legalfalcon i got gcms on july 27 ordered them in june. I have s16(1)c on notes page and security is blank on page 2 with s15 on the top in the assessment section.

I added my spouse post aor and he gave his biometrics on july 29.

Last time (around 2 weeks back) i called ircc they said everything is passed. Does this mean my notes are old and security is cleared or i am under security screening?

Pleaseee advise

TIA
Jaspreet

See the date of generation at the bottom of any page of the GCMS notes. It is as on that day how your application looked is captured in the notes.

All outland applicants go through a comprehensive security screening. CBSA is always involved, CSIS only in some cases.

See the activities section of your CBSA notes to see the dates.

@legalfalcon , please I'll need your response to this. If background check has been done for a previous application, TRV to be precise and it was passed (criminality and security). Now, there's a new application for PR, will the background check be done all over again or the report from the previous application can be taken and be passed automatically? Thank you

And probably the TRV was refused but GCMS notes show that criminality was passed, will the background check be done again for a new application or they will just go with what's on ground? @legalfalcon

Yes, BGC for PR applications is done from scratch even if it has been done before for a TRV.

@legalfalcon please help with my gcms from
CBSA. It says security check completed and calll centre agent said it is passed but criminality and info sharing still in progress. How come? I thought security is the last stage?

Is this an officer reviewing my application at the final stage? It’s been recommended passed since June 2021, meds passed July 2021. Security passed August 16, 2021 but until now criminality and info sharing progress with clean records.

What do you think is next to this? I hope you can help me answer my conce

@legalfalcon
Thanks. I am an inland applicant actually.I am sure my PNP paper based applicationis now under comprehensive SS as CSIS and CBSA involved. I have submitted another application through CEC, and now R10 has just passed. I am wondering my on going comprehensive SS in the paper based application will cause a problem tothe CEC application. Will the CEC application be evaluated independently? Or it will be enter the same comprehensive SS process? Thanks a lot

What does the assessment section say about security?

Usually security is the last stage, however, in some cases, specially for inland applicants criminality can stay pending until the end even after security is passed. This is due to the pending RCMP report.
