In the basic guide for spousal sponsorship it is said: You can become a sponsor if you are able to prove that you are not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability.
Are child benefits considered to be a kind of social assistance? Can I become a sponsor if I get child benefits?

I am currently living in Norway with my Korean wife. I am a Canadian citizen by birth and will be her sponsor. We are looking to move to Canada this summer. My question is should we gather everything now, and wait until we arrive in Canada and then submit our application? Is this the best course of action? Or should I be busy gathering everything here, apply from Norway and then move to canada? This seems like it would be more complicated for the immigration services to process, since we would be between Norway and Canada as the process is getting underway

As we arrive in Canada this summer, can my wife enter similar to other visits, on a visitor visa? Or do we have to apply for somethings else, as this time around we will be entering on a one way plane ticket, with the intention on staying.

With the sponsorship application I am thinking that it would be good to also apply for a visitor visa extension, and an open work permit.

I am a little bit confused, I will appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this please. I sent my application on January 15 and it was received and signed for on 18th of January.
I called CIC today to know what is going on as i have not received aor yet and was told my file was received on March 4th, is this possible?
I thought the date delivered by courier is usually the received date at CIC? well now i have to wait for 2 months again before aor. Has this happened to anybody before?

Yes. Application received by the postal service is one thing. I only got my AOR within 30 days of them receiving it via Canada post. I’ve also see. AOR taking up to 3 months. Try not to worry yet

I emailed my visa office asked them for my expired medical they told me that will expired in april and in my cic account it showed me ' you don't need medical ' after expired
Now yesterday i saw ' you passed medical '
Any body know what that means?
I also got pre arrival email on February 20 ,2019

They probably extended the expiration date on your medical exam. If you are close to approval, they will extend it sometimes. Otherwise, they will send you a request to have another one done soon.

Hi guys. Can anyone enlighten me what to expect at this stage? Been reading threads for those Dec outland applications and many of them already did their medicals etc. Been wondring why there’s no med request yet for me until now (PA).

No, there is no need to add your name in passport to get PCC.
These two are separate things. My husband is also in India, and i am the sponsor. We got these two things done separately.

Nope. Definitely not. Your husband only needs his passport to get the PCC.
If in case you would like to add your husband's name in the spouse line of your passport, or change your last name in your passport, then it would be easier if he adds your name in his passport first. But adding the names on each other passports is totally upto you. Neither Canada nor India expects it.

I would say, you have nothing to worry about. If it says, you passed, you passed. That's it.
