Hello, yes, the PA’s residential address should be updated if they have moved from the USA to India after submitting the Spousal Sponsorship application. It is important to keep IRCC informed of any changes to the PA’s residential address and contact information while the application is in process.
You can submit an IRCC Webform to notify them of the change. Include the application number, UCI, the PA’s full name and date of birth, the previous address in the USA, the new residential address in India, and the effective date of the move. If applicable, you can also mention that the PA is now residing in India and provide their updated contact details.
Updating the address should help ensure that any correspondence, requests, or instructions from IRCC are directed appropriately and that the application information remains up to date.
I would recommend submitting the Webform as soon as possible and keeping a copy of the confirmation for your records.
Hello! Need some insight or advice on how to convince immigration about our application. My husband and I got married last June, and we decided to have an intimate wedding in a court way back in the Philippines. Our parents did not know about this decision of ours since we both personally wanted to have it just the two of us, and we have close friends who witnessed our wedding. We've been together for 5 years and were engaged when I went back home in January. Our relationship was known by our community and both our sides. I'm looking to explain and state our reasons, which are:
- We really wanted to have an intimate wedding, not a super fun or big occasion, as we would rather spend lots of money on our honeymoon rather than on a big wedding.
- Second, if we were to have a big wedding it would challenge us financially since we have a big family. Moreover, we have been dating for 5 years in an LDR setup, and our priorities before were to help our family financially, send our siblings to school, and such.
- But we look forward to announcing that we are married, as I plan to go home in March 2027 and have a celebration.
Honestly, we did it too because we really want to be together. We have saved money to make this application here in Canada. We are just waiting for our marriage certificate from PSA. Thank you!

Write a short explanation about the circumstances incl why parents not invited, provide good evidence of your relationship over the years and some of / from those that attended the wedding, and apply.
If you have good evidence, unlikely to be a big problem - it's clearly not an arranged marriage. Obviously caveat - only have the info you shared above.
Small comment: don't bother with info about planning to announce stuff or celebrations in future. Go with what you have and makes sure the evidence is strong.
Thank you for this insight! And here is some more context.
Yes, it was our choice to get married without our parents. I went back home in January after 3 years in Canada and after I got my PR. But through our 5-year LDR, we've been building dreams and goals, and part of it is getting him here. During that time, he visited my family for Christmas Day, my mom's 50th birthday, and such. I'm not financially able to go home during my work permit period; that is why, when we got engaged and came back to Canada, that's when I thought I had to get him here with me that's why I went back home in June. He got all the requirements, and we got married with just a few friends. And up to this moment, our parents don't know yet. I'm wondering if we could tell them now? Or just stick with the plan we have?
You don't have to give me the context, I was just saying that I don't know the rest of your file - i.e. from the info above I don't see any obvious issue.
I suggest you start going through the sponsorship application to see what info you can provide. Less "hopes and dreams" - you're not writing a Jane Austin novel - and focus instead on time you have spent together, trips, photos you have to support that, a few support notes from friends (also: factual, 'we were at their wedding'), evidence from the small wedding, etc.
I have no opinion on when you tell your parents or combine with celebration later - my point was informing IRCC about celebration plans will be given very little weight. The fact they didn't join is now just a fact, explain it and move on; explanation for this can be brief, lots of people don't/can't have their parents attend for various reasons. (It's also somewhat dependent on culture, so in your own words)
Any suggestions or advice appreciated.
My PA has submitted the biometrics on Sep 16th. In GC key the biometrics date has been updated on bottom section, where it says enrolment date and number. But in detailed section it still says, we need your fingerprints to process your application. Any one facing similar situation, do i have to submit webform mentioning same thing or just wait and it will updated.

For those whose spousal sponsorship application was transferred to the New York visa office, did you receive an interview request, or was your application processed without an interview? Also, how long after receiving the transfer letter did you get your next update? My application was transferred to the New York office, and I’m wondering what to expect next. Thank you!

Hlo all. My daughter in Law applied under spousal immigration to get PR in canada. Her time line : Applied online in month of August 2026 and on October 24,2026 received AOR file, uci number, biometric request and on October 26,2026 received medical request received at email id. Please share, anyone have a same situation and what will be next updation and when possibly, she can get PR? Pls reply asap. I will be very thankful all of you.
Congratulations. What does a passport request letter look like please?
I got a letter with the following heading
"Please review your contact details above and advise us of any errors or updates"
But the letter also has steps on documents submission.
Does anyone have an idea please?
Here is my timeline:
Applied date: July06, 2026
AOR: August 27,2026
Biometric letter: Sep04, 2026
Medicals: Sep08,2026
Sponsor approval: Sep08,2026
Medical completed: Sep24th, 2026
Biometric completed: Sep16th, 2026
But in GC key, in applicant information section i am seeing new biometric information like date and enrolled number, but down at detailed section still says “we have not received your fingerprints…”
I have contacted IRCC they told me quality of biometrics is not good. But they will try to process it and i should expect either new biometric letter or my biometric passed. And also they said biometrics is part of background check.
Are there any one who faced similar issue, and is there anything i can do? Apart from wait?
