Hello... Just noticed I didn't put 'sponsorship spouse' on my envelope when I sent my papers and I don't think I put the 'barcode' on top of my form.
Is this really bad?
You can tell i'm getting a bit stressed out now :-[
They'll figure it out... Don't panic.

Hello Everyone!

I am sponsoring my husband who is from Ghana. We have just sent in our application. We are praying for a speedy process. We did everything in advance except police check. We currently live in the UK and have decided to wait until we receive a letter from Accra requesting it, figured it will be easier to send a representative to the police station in Accra with the letter.

We have been together for 3 years, married for 1 and have lots of proof of our relationship. I think we put together (it was literally 400-500 pages!!) a good application. In a perfect world, we are hoping the process only takes 7 months - fingers crossed.

Wishing all the best to all other members in the forum who are currently waiting. I encourage everyone to post their timelines as it gives us who are waiting hope.

Good luck everyone.

I am trying to understand the dates some of you have on the left side under your names?
thanks,

Hi! Got email from cem requesting for my RPRF.my husband (sponsor) sent me the receipt indicated that he paid 550 $..isn't this is the one?if not, how he will paid for it and jow many weeks of processing? Thank you

The application fee is $550 ($75 for sponsor + $475 for applicant). The RPRF is $490 and can be paid online just before the PR is issued if it wasn't paid at the beginning along with the $550.

Does anyone know what Medicals in Progress mean in the GCMS notes? I haven't received any re-medical request and my first medical expired a year ago... The notes should say medical expired or passed but instead they say in progress :-/

If you apply outland and receive approval of your sponsorship do you have to wait in the country you're applying from until your application is received or can you go to canada and wait for approval?

Are you the sponsor or the applicant?

If you are the applicant, and you have a visa or the appropriate documents to enter Canada, you can do whatever you want.
If you are the sponsor, you can also do whatever you want.

I am the sponsor. We are thinking of applying and we would do it outland as we live together but not in canada. But I wasn't sure if for example my application to sponsor is aprroved after say 2 months if we have to wait outside the country until the application is approved for residency or if we can go to canada and wait for the results.

I know that I can go to Canada when I want as I'm a Canadian citizen but I wouldn't want to go without my spouse.

It depends where your spouse is from. If they are from a Visa exempt country they can likely enter Canada without much of a problem. You may need to convince customs agents that your spouse will leave after the 6 months is up, you may have to buy a return ticket of some sort to prove that.

If your spouse is from a country where its citizens would need a visitors visa or temporary residency visa to enter Canada, you would have to apply for that visa as well.

The option C form doesn't actually say Option C on it - even the accountant noted this is true. underneath the letterhead part, it says "income tax return information - regular". it has the basic identification information for the person requesting it, then there are 4 columns, Line, Description, Reported, Processed. It is a detailed version of the tax return.

If she had a tourist visa would it be legal to stay in Canada while the application is in progress or only until the 6 months is up on the time limited to tourists and then she would have to return to her country?

If you applied outland, you would need to apply for an extension on the visa, and from what I've read on these boards, if the application is in process, there is a high approval rate for extensions. It is recommended to apply for the extension at least 1 month prior to the visa expiry date. It's not recommended she stay beyond the allowed time on the visa. That can cause significant problems. For example, if she stays beyond the time listed on the visa, when she leaves and tries to come back, she can be denied entry. I'm not sure about how it affects applications, though i'm sure it's not helpful.

If you apply inland, i believe that's a whole different story. there are threads about inland and staying while the application is in process.

The thing is that we live outside of Canada so it makes sense for us to start the application here but I don't know if we want to wait the supposed 1 and a half years that it might to be approved and then go to Canada. I would like to go back sooner but obviously want to do everything legally as not to have any problems.
