I'm new here. I'm looking for some topic about spouse sponsorship..can't find what I'm looking for..hope some one here can give some info..I'm planning to sponsor my husband, unfortunately I'm having hard time finding work, and right now I'm 12 weeks pregnant...last year I just work 8 months..it is possible to sponsor my husband or submit the application? Help pls...

@Claire
You don't need to be working to sponsor ur husband. Immigration's policy stipulates that you can't be on social assistance and sponsor, but you could still sponsor if u receive disability. Your family or friends can give you letters saying that they'll assist both of you until you can get work. It will be OK either way

Hi All,

It has been a while that I have since I have posted on this forum.

I submitted an inland application for sponsor my wife in January 31, 2011. In April, 2012 the application was transferred to CIC Etobicoke for clarifications .

On September 7, 2012, I was invited for interview. On January 17, 2013 decision was made and my wife and I was AIP. Both of us got a latter in the mail for AIP. My wife has 2 dependents; both of them were living with us in Canada here. We tried to get OHIP card based on the AIP letter that we received from CIC but we could not get them registered but my wife did. I contacted CIC and I was told that they have to process the kids’ application separately. This is my concern. I filled for them and paid their processing fees together at the time of application submission. Do they have to process their application separately? Will this cause more delay. One of the kid completed his high school diploma last year and he could not go to the university ‘cos’ the application was under processing. His University admission was deferred. I hope this will not delay his admission this year again. I have notified CIC of the last year it seems that youth education is not their concern. If they do not act on time, Canada will be losing talented kids that should have helped this nation. I am ready to withdraw their application and move them to US for further educations. Please advise me on this .

Thanks,

Policap

What you do with your kids is your own decision. If you are not satisfied with the service you have been given you need to lodge a complaint with them or through your MP.

Quick question.....

Can you leave Canada to visit your wife for 1.5 months while outland sponsorship application is in progress?? No decision has been made yet. Also, I am Canadian Citizen.

The reason I ask this question, is because I have read it somewhere that if you sponsoring your wife to Canada and the file is in process, you should not leave Canada for more than 2-3 weeks. Could someone please clarify it.

Thank you.

A Canadian citizen can leave, although if you're gone for that long, CIC may ask for proof of your intent to return before issuing the PR visa.

PRs can't be outside Canada to sponsor their spouse.

Upfront medical is a requirement. She must do it before sending in the application as the medical receipt has to be included.

Are there any medical forms that she has to fill out herself ?

I see that IMM 1701 (I believe) is in electronic form is available at doctors office. What about other forms if any?

Thanks for your response. You did not address the question of the message.

Please anyone with such experience share your experience with me. My MP has written them several time to speed up the processing , but their reply was that they had protocols to follow and that was why his admission was deferred last year.

Now that we got AIP for my wife and was told that dependents children will be processed separately. Is this right for Inland PR? How long does the processing takes? Anyone with experience please share.

Thanks,

My application for sponsorship was approved. Now, I understand and accept, that I am not to receive any social assistance from the gov't. But, would the Saskatchewan Employment Supplement and Saskatchewan Rental Housing Supplement be considered social assistance? I'm guessing it is, but would like to check with someone else to know for sure.
Thanks,
Kent

Hi kentr, I think once you are approved as sponsor, it's about the sponsored person this time. If you provided all required documents then you have just to wait for PPR. If you miss any documents I'm sure they will ask you to re-submit that document. Double check the Document List-Sponsor [IMM 5491] because there's a warning on top of the checklist, "If you do not enclose all the required forms and documents, your entire application will be returned to you".

All the forms are provided by the DMP now for Upfront. You only have to comply with the DMP's local procedures, if any. Thay should state what THEY require when they arrange the appointment. It will be things like, "bring spectacles, ID, photos (if required)" and "fill in this contract so that we can charge you".

I was living with my wife after our marriage but came back to Canada only to mail the applications. One week and then returned to her country and waited with her. I had magic jack and a Canadian phone number that they had on application. If you are a Canadian Citizen you are not required to be in Canada but it is best to have arrangements made if CIC should need to contact you.

Thanks again. Without your help this would be extremely confusing

MP's cannot speed up processing. All they can do is inquire as to where the application is in the system if it has gone past the posted processing timeline.
Inland applications can take a long time as yours seems to prove. It appears that you are not your wife's childrens' biological father. If this is the case it may delay the processing of their PR's given that circumstance though its doubtful they would be denied if your wife has already been approved. I would wait until your 1 year anniversary of April 2013 and then inquire again as to the status of their applications.

CIC make very few promises and those that they do they rarely make good on. This is what I am finding.

How accurate are usually the CIC's estimates on the processing times? I'm looking at Vienna sponsorship... they say 10 months... holy... :-X
