They didn't. I gave them a bunch of proof. They asked for our marriage certificate, we got married after we applied through common law.They already gave you an AIP then asked for additional documents? did they ask for additional proof of relationship? Thanks

As you know friends in our last conversation I told you guys one of the agency told me you're 26 months but my wife today called them again they said 12 months now I didn't get how they are working and they said if we didn't call you in two weeks call us so I don't what does mean that.

My background check took longer than normal because I had some red flags from prior conviction. I applied for PR and rehabilitation. My rehabilitation got approved in April 2017. People with a criminal background are taken through a more tedious background check.
Question: When they give me COPR, can I travel or do I have to wait for my PR to leave the country? I am not from a visa exempt country.

They are trying to honour the 12 month timeline set out last year by John McCallum. The vast majority of cases are being completed in around 12-14 months now. Some are taking a little longer -- and I have read news stories claiming that Security and Background checks have been majorly delayed because of the influx of asylum seekers and refugee claims. So, Some see it a little longer than 14 months, but most are done around that time frame...
COPR is not a travel document. You can travel, sure, but that won't permit you re-entry. You can apply for a PR Travel Document ($50) when you are outside of Canada to be able to return. But I would suggest just waiting for the card, if you can..

60-ish days. My wife landed May 5th and got hers at the beginning of July.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/information/times/index.asp says presently it's 61 days.

January 9, 2017: AOR - Principal Applicant
May 31, 2017: Medical Request and more proof of relationship documents requested
June 1, 2017: Sponsor Approval
June 9, 2017: Medical’s done
June 20, 2017: Medical results received by CIC (update on ECAS)
August 23, 2017: Landing letter received
August 31, 2017: Approval in Principle granted
September 12, 2017: Landing Interview

question - has anyone ever traveled overseas while their in-land sponsorship was being processed ? i have read and been advised not to travel while in-land sponsorship is in process as re-entry is not guaranteed.
my spouse (and me as well) is not from a visa-exempt country and is currently on an OWP. we are mid - 2017 applicants and are still waiting to hear back from ircc.
any advice if it is a good idea to travel back home while the processing is being done ?

It's possible but of course not recommended. It's in discretion of the officer to allow you back in. However, there are many cases of re-entries with no hassle at all. Bottom line, no gaurantee and a risk.
