I understand that criminality check is valid for 1 year only. I read somewhere on the forum that an individual contacted the call center (couldn't locate the post) and was told that they are now transferring files after completing the background checks. If that is the case than it would mean that they would attempt to complete as many files within a year rather than delaying and having to duplicate the background check again. Assumption is that what the caller was told by the call center agent is correct (could be questionable though).

Granted there are many variables but I am hoping that the ones moving to in process soon they have a plan and the testing invites phase should speed up significantly over the next 3-4 months for straight forward cases.

I do wonder if the in process stage steps have changed due to COVID such as no physical file transfer and optimizing and centralization of certain steps such as completion of background checks. Are you aware of any 2020 summer or earlier applicants getting fingerprint requests, as that would indicate that certain steps are being completed.

Hello All,
I received my AOR today by email. I am not sure how AOR is relevant anymore. My application status got changed to "Application Received" on Jan 16, 2021. Application was received on September 8, 2020. However, I called up CIC and they gave the application number on Jan 19, 2021. Does the AOR email mean anything anymore?

They had a glitch in their system, so your effective AOR date is Jan 16, 2021 (possibly even earlier than that). October/ November applicants are getting AOR emails first and then the status update in ecas.

Hi All, good news!

Got the AOR email today from CPC-Sydney-Referral with an attachment stating - 'This is to acknowledge receipt of your application for Canadian Citizenship'. My spouse also received an email at the same time as I with her AOR and it had a different application number to mine (though we had submitted the 4 applications - husband, wife, two kids) together. Does this mean my spouse's application will be processed separately to mine? If yes, what about the kids application?

I've updated my AOR date on the Sept 2020 tracker.

That is strange. There should certainly be something there - either way.
