If you are in Canada by the time your passport is requested you have to mail it to Ottawa
Thanks T4m1!
Can you physically drive to Ottawa to present your passport? Or mailing it is the only option?
Were you in Canada when they requested your police check? Because I know its really hard to get a police check if you are outside Canada.
Thanks

I'm not sure but I think mailing is the only option. Yes I was in Canada, I don't know how to proceed to get a criminal background check in Brazil, sorry

Hello everyone! I loved the idea of sharing our timelines, especially regarding SPVO. It helps us to understand the process and deal with the long wait as a group. I am still getting used to the forum, but here is my timeline:

Interesting, I would like to learn more things about that - sending Passport to Ottawa instead. But I also heard that applying for a visitor visa while waiting for Spousal Sponsorship is not recommended (will be rejected 99%) unless you have a really valid reason to come back to Brazil.
Anyways, look also what I found, if you enter Canada by land/sea, you do not need an eTA (only required if you fly to Canada). So... theoretically, this means that my/your husband can fly to Buffalo, then cross the border and they dont need anything, no eTA, no visitor visa. This sounds too good to be true :)

No you still need a valid visit visa, it says so right in the link you provided

Welcome Bea07!!! I've added you to the list ....

Hi everyone,
Anybody has experience on how to get fingerprints in Sao Paulo, Brazil?
Thanks for help

I have lived for a year in Canada, and I didn't send a Canadian Police Certificate since I am in Brazil, because I've heard it's a little complicated to get, and they may or may not request. However, I don't want my app to be delayed cause of that. Does anyone know the steps to get the Canadian PCC from Brazil, including the fingerprints? Thanks in advance.

Hi. My husband and I were in front of the same dilemma. We decided to go ahead and be proactive and order the certificate anyways, just in case it will be requested. The only way to do that if you are outside of Canada is through the official partners that RCMP works with. The list is on their website. http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/who-can-conduct-criminal-record-check
Try contacting one of them. The company we chose, sent us all the forms, my husband went to Policia Federal office and they took his fingerprints (on the Canadian form), and stamped his form. This form then he scanned and sent to the office in Canada. We are still waiting for the certificate though. I can update you how it goes.
Good luck

From my understanding you will not need a visitor visa come May 1st, correct? If you are eligible, you can just apply for eTA. Right now, of course, you need a visa.

Hey Bea07,

You might want to check out the November thread and add your info to the November spreadsheet! It's nice to watch the progress of other applicants applying around the same time as you!

Yeah I read/heard something about Brazilian citizens no longer needing a visit visa, i haven't followed up on it though because my husband is only a Brazilian resident and not a citizen (he's not Brazilian)
