There is a spreadsheet that you can put your information in. It's good to watch the timelines of other November applicants and to see if they're experiencing the same things (missing lines on ecas, no AOR2, etc.).
Thanks so much Katdanger! Will do :)

Hi! I got an official translation only for my birth certificate and my Brazilian criminal check (cheapest official translator I found: ftadeubr@yahoo.com.br Fernando Thadeu - Toronto). I have seen people saying that that wasn't really necessary as my application was assessed in Sao Paulo. But anyways.. I did it. You will send them photocopies and translations, never originals. I did not need to translate my birth certificate to get married in Ontario. I just used my passport and Ontario drivers license.

Make sure you let them know that you depend on the marriage certificate to apply for your visa, otherwise it can take quite some time to get ready. In order to do so, you will just need to fax them a letter telling why you need it faster.

At first the process can be overwhelming but it get better once you're going through each phase

Best of luck!
Thanks! I know I'll send only certified photocopies and not originals for the application, I meant for the translator. When they are juramentados, are the copies made by them also certified? That's my main doubt, if I have to certify the copies and also translate them or just being translated by a Tradutor Juramentado will do it.
I never lived in Canada so my documents for the marriage will be just the birth certificate and passport with tourist visa. I hope that's enough? I'll ask them some urgency but after I'm married and back to Brazil I can wait for the certificate while I start my application. The important thing is to get married now :)

It could be that, and maybe many people are taking holidays this month too.

I'm trying to be patient. We've really just begun the waiting period, but I can't help but check mycic and ecas at least once a day! lol
Hi Katdanger, I tried to send u a private message using this forum. Since I am a newbie here, do you know if private messaging even works? I dont seem to get replies at all. Unless people are busy and haven't had time to respond yet.
Thanks

Hey guys,
I am wondering if it is ok (or not recommended) to travel outside of Brazil while waiting for your papers to be approved? I have a birthday coming up in April and my husband really wants to come to Canada. However, the way everything is going, most likely in April he should get some sort of response from the VO (we applied in November).

Also starting May 1st, Brazilians can come to Canada using eTA. Anyone know anything about that? Can you apply for an eTA if you are waiting for a spousal sponsorship?
Thanks

I believe Brazilians who had a visa for Canada in the previous 5 years (not sure about this number) or are currently holding a valid visa for the U.S. are eligible for eta. My husband is thinking of traveling to Canada with an eta as he has a valid american visa and also had a Canadian visa recently. Our immigration consultant said waiting for spousal sponsorship shouldn't be a problem, but because this is a new thing and she can't have had actual experience with this specific rule before I'm still nervous that it might be a problem.

I agree. I'm in the same boat. My husband has a valid visa to US and he had a Canadian visitor visa in the past. But I am just wondering if it will pose a problem for our application. I would really like for him to come to Canada to visit, however, May 1st, is around the time our application should be getting some movement. So I am wondering if he should stay in Brazil, just in case he get any requests (additional info, interviews, PPR).

I've heard of people being in Canada when they receive ppr and they ended up sending their passport to Ottawa instead of their VO. But I don't know any details about that.

Interesting, I would like to learn more things about that - sending Passport to Ottawa instead. But I also heard that applying for a visitor visa while waiting for Spousal Sponsorship is not recommended (will be rejected 99%) unless you have a really valid reason to come back to Brazil.
Anyways, look also what I found, if you enter Canada by land/sea, you do not need an eTA (only required if you fly to Canada). So... theoretically, this means that my/your husband can fly to Buffalo, then cross the border and they dont need anything, no eTA, no visitor visa. This sounds too good to be true :)

If you are in Canada by the time your passport is requested you have to mail it to Ottawa
