Refugee case under file review process for less complex cases

Hey everyone
I am working in Ïmmigration consultation office in Vancouver
I have experience in short hearing case
For a family of six person, they have apply for refugee claimants in Vancouver and they on the end of October 2019,
They have send them that there case was selected to a short hearing case in the March 2020,in the 02 May 2020 they received the the acceptance letter
It was super fast

How did they get decisions when IRB offices are close! they just opened last week

I believe the IRB western region main office in Vancouver were still working during the lockdown as I received a letter from them in the beginning of May stating that I was selected for the file review process.

Did anyone get any letter from the Montreal office since they closed?

I’m waiting since 2017 and didn’t receive anything from them

Were you selected under the less complex cases? Nevertheless, 3-4 years is very long waiting time. I would suggest that you write to the IRB.

They forget me or lost my file maybe

You should write to them. Or hire a lawyer to follow up on your case because you have surpassed the usual processing time.

I have my lawyer and she said she can’t do anything I just have to wait till I will get a date for hearing so sad

You likely don’t qualify for less complex cases. Mostly Syrian, Eritrean, Yemini and Afghani. Obviously with some exceptions often for LGBTQ+ cases.
