Just received police clearance certificate request and additional documents like birth certificate, travel form etc.

I have a question, my parents have been staying in Canada for more than 6 months as they’re on super visa.

Do I need to get police clearance from Canada ?

Happy Friday everyone.

Hi Yulia and everyone else who got 2nd medical request from London LVO. I have these questions for you:

1- Do you remember if your CIC online account still showed "Background check in process" ? yes
2- Was your medical request sent after your first one expired ? yes, I push them

Thanks,

From previous medical cases I've read here since the implementation of new medical threshold, 3 months is the usual time to receive medical decision from the date a case is finalized as M5. They must be having a hard time in reaching a decision in your case. Have you had any further medical request since January 31st when your case was finalized as M5?

My case is a developmental delay for child. Case was finalized as M5 on 31st May.

Sounds like they are turning a 10 minute doctor review into something like CBSA security checks. Absolutely incompetent.

Hi

didnt you receive the Request letter ? I did and they ask police certificate from Pakistan only, though my mother in law stayed in Canada for more than 390 days but all after the application. I think as we filled new schedule A they will check if needed they will ask. No action required for you as well probably at this stage.

Good Luck

You don't want a comprehensive background check to start ever. That will take from 3 to 6 to 9 to 12 months depending on the country of residence and travel history and nationality. An officer decides at eligibility to either send your file to CBSA or not. If they do you will be delayed. If they just pass eligibility and don't send you to background check then only couple months to get Visa maybe.

To those with almost expiring medicals:
- If your medical exam is about to expire (i.e. one or two months left), go ahead and ask for another medical exam *if you think your security check is about to finish. This is needed because they won't issue visa with 1 or 2 months left for medical. Heck, it might even be more, like 3-5 months. I am not sure what the exact number of months it is that they need the expiry to be valid for but they definitely won't issue visa when a month is left.
- I have not heard of anyone's medical expiry date get extended so that might be a myth or once in a blue moon thing so above applies in almost all cases.
- Visa office would not be proactive about this. You have to push politely for it.
- I have seen a case where a visa office was proactive about it but that is again once in a blue moon thing.
