Hello King80, My file was transferred on Oct 19. I used fedex to send passport and docs. I used fedex for return mail. I have fedex personal/corporate account. I filled the return level with that number. I also enclosed a page saying that fedex return envelop is enclosed with corporate account number on the return level. I used fedex because I got late modifying photographs at walgreens. I would recommend using a USPS express mail. I had to wait a month to get the passport back. Not sure if it was fedex or something that caused the delay in my mail. Please, feel free to ask any info.
jxjy01,

Congrats on your Immigrant Visa. Now keep us all updated with your landing plans.

i dont think there is way to check, unless u get a letter from them saying no documents required and we have ur medicals. Normally Buffalo-RPC will send these letters at the time of requesting RRPF. Based on the flow i guess all Aug Medical ppl are getting transfers/PPR... so urs could be few more weeks of waiting game

submission of State clearance cirtificates is not mandatory and not required. No harm submitting them if you have already procured the cirtificates but if you have not applied for them, no need to spend resources on this efforts unless CIC requests for it.

Can you please share more information about your case? You see to have applied from CHC Delhi. Please check their average processing time and if that passed with respect to your application, you need to contact them and inquire about your case. If you have submitted your passport in July that means your medicals are about to expire soon.
AG,

All the details are as shown in my profile. They had made additional document request in November. They wanted Original Transcripts from all schools attended and I sent them on December 1st. For some reason my attorney did not ask me to include transcripts when they first submitted the package. The average processing time for New Delhi is 6 months and I made an inquiry in first week of Jan. The reply was generic and said "your application awaits review by the visa officer".

My medicals will expire in July 2011.

Regards,

MK

This is not the norm with other consulates (atleast in the US).First, they do not request passports unless they have made a final decision; once they do, they normally return passports with visa within about a months time, give plus or minus a few days.

Regards updates, CIC Buffalo is very unpredictable - they may or may not update your e-case. Other consulates, like LA and NY are better in this regard. Bottom line, there is no way to figure the status of your application by looking at your ecase.

CIC Buffalo is definitely doing right in reviewing the case first and then requesting for passports. But New Delhi is not the same. Another member tim50 has a similar situation. His passport request came along with AOR/MR.

I know that ecas is updated every tuesday, but I still check it everyday hoping that unpredictability works there too.

As most of us have got ppr and few are in queue ( a month or two, it will come ), Do you know that almost all the airlines allow only 1 luggage bag of 23kgs ;D though its an international travel, what would be the best options to move the entire family setup from LA to Calgary. I am ready to drive from LA to calgary but is it feasible :), which allows you to move your maximum stuff and enjoy drive via Montana. USPS charges shoot up if you want to move via postal service.
My family - my husband, me, and two kids drove from Texas to Calgary in November. We rented a truck from Penske, put all our belongings in it, hitched one car onto a car carrier and attached it to the truck (which my husband drove), and I followed behind in our other car with the kids. If you can, do it in the summer because the snow made it more difficult. We spent 6 days, driving about 8-10 hours a day (at low speed because of the truck), and taking a full day off in the middle. We spent roughly $2,100 - $1,400 for the truck, and $700 for food, fuel and hotels (i cashed in a lot of frequent flier points for hotels, so this may be higher for you). It turned out to be a lot cheaper than all our other options, especially for shipping the cars, but was definitely physically stressful. Hope that helps.

Thank You AG for the information, I visited UPICK.com and got a quote from them, they are slightly expensive, ofcourse the services are cool and Relo cube is good idea. I am still thinking of taking multiple breaks and explore places and reach AB not sure at this point of time, but a thought! I can move my favourite odyssey along with me :)

Drive from LA to Calgary is possible but it will be very tedious. You will have to take multiple breaks. Will you be able to take all your suff in your car?

If not there is something called "Relo Cube" from www.upack.com. They deliver a large box at your door to put stuff into it. They will them pick it up and transport it to your destination and leave it at your door. I have heard of many people using this UPack service. They also provide full size trailers if you have more stuff to move.

Definitely its a booster to me, as I am ready to take 4 day trip for this and am not going to rent any truck, its all my van! Can you also provide more information about getting your vehicle certified for Canada, heard that some modifications need to be complete for US vehicles to get registered and insured in Canada. Thanks Wendy for all the info!
