Hi everyone,

I recently submitted my Canada Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) application and later realized that I accidentally reversed my given name and surname in the application form.

Correct name as per passport:
Given name: XX
Surname/Family name: YY

Entered in application:
Given name: YY
Surname/Family name: XX

All other information is correct, including:

  • Passport number
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Supporting documents

I submitted a Webform immediately after noticing the mistake and selected “Other” to request a name correction. I also attached a copy of my passport.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone experienced a similar situation (given name and surname reversed)?
  2. Did IRCC correct the information after a Webform request?
  3. Did you receive a reply from IRCC, or was the correction made without any response?
  4. Were you still able to receive your Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL) and complete biometrics normally?
  5. Did this affect the final visa decision?

Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
