Hi Miss Bee,

I recently submitted my PR application in January 2026. I noticed a potential issue in my Address History (IMM 5669) and I’m worried about a "gap" or a return for incompleteness.

I started my draft back in March 2025. When I finally submitted the application in January 2026, the "To" date for my current address (where I have lived since 2022) was automatically locked as 2025/03 by the portal. I tried to refresh the system, but it wouldn't update to the current submission date.

Details:
  • In the initial "Contact Information" section of the portal (where it asks for my current home address), I provided my correct and only Canadian address.
  • On the submitted IMM 5669 PDF, it shows: Current Address from 2022/08 to 2025/03 (leaving an apparent gap until 2026/01).
  • As evidence, I uploaded a recent utility bill (Hydro One) from January 2026 as proof that I still reside at this same address. My wife’s form (submitted in the same package) shows the correct dates.
Questions:
  1. Is this system-locked date common in the PR Portal for those who keep drafts for a long time?
  2. Since the address is correct in the profile section and I provided a 2026 utility bill, should I still send a Webform (Note of Explanation) to clarify this, or it's not necessary and that would just slow down my AOR?
Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hi @Miss bee,
Is it normal to wait for Ecopr for more than 3 months? I have submitted P2 in December 11th, and have not received anything since?
Yes, it can be normal to wait more than three months for your eCOPR after submitting Portal 2, although it is longer than the average processing time. After you submit P2 and confirm your address and photo in the PR portal, IRCC still needs to review the information and finalize the electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence (eCOPR). While many applicants receive their eCOPR within a few weeks, some cases take two to three months or even longer due to processing backlogs, workload at the responsible IRCC office, or delays in reviewing the uploaded photo. Since you submitted your P2 on December 11 and have not received anything yet, it is slightly delayed but still something that other applicants have experienced. At this point, it would be reasonable to follow up with IRCC through a webform or by calling them to check the status of your eCOPR, but in most cases receiving Portal 2 already means your permanent residence has been approved and you are simply waiting for the final document to be issued.

This situation can happen when an application draft stays in the PR portal for many months. Sometimes the system keeps the “To” date from when the form was first generated or saved, and it may lock that field when the IMM 5669 PDF is created, even if the application is submitted later. Because of that, some applicants see a cut-off date that reflects when the draft was created rather than the final submission date, which can make it look like there is a gap. In your case, since you clearly listed your current Canadian address correctly in the contact information section, indicated that you have been living there since 2022, and also uploaded a January 2026 utility bill proving you still live at that same address, IRCC officers usually understand that it is the same residence and not an actual unexplained gap. Applications are typically returned only when there is a real missing period in address history or when required information is not provided at all. Because your address itself is consistent and supported by documents, it is unlikely to cause the application to be returned for incompleteness. However, if you want to be extra cautious, you can send a short IRCC webform note of explanation stating that the IMM 5669 auto-locked the “To” date as 2025/03 due to the draft being created earlier, and confirm that you have continued living at the same address up to the submission date. Sending such a clarification normally does not slow down your AOR, but it simply becomes an additional note attached to your file in case the officer reviews it later.

Thanks so much for your clarification, Miss Bee. I will send a Note of Explanation.
