Hello Experts,

I have received ITA to apply under Canada CEC program. Now, here is the confusion I have with respect to the NOC code and the reference letter.

Background: I am currently employed with an IT firm under a closed work permit (International Mobility Program: LMIA exempt).
In the Work permit application, the immigration law firm hired by my employer mentioned NOC code as 2174, while the majority of the job roles and responsibilities I perform fall under 0213 or 2283 (Test Manager, Program Test Manager, Delivery Manager, Scrum Lead).
Although NOC code is NOT mentioned in my offer letter or on Canada closed work permit paper, I am concerned that if the PR case officer would have access to the "work permit application" submitted back then, he/she would find the discrepancy in the NOC code submitted in the WP application and that on the PR application.

Options:
1) I am thinking to align "roles and responsibilities" on the "reference letter" with that of the NOC code 2174. Of course, my employer (HR or reporting manager) has to agree on the same.
2) Explain the situation in LOE addressing to the case officer about different NOC codes in the WP application and in the PR application, assuming the reference letter from employer will have the job duties matching NOC codes.

Kindly advice.

Short answer is, use your WP NOC as the IRCC officer will do a search of your name and they’ll find out that you have a valid work permit and it’s applied under NOC 2171. If you think there are discrepancies and that it should have been 2174, you need to justify choosing this. Discuss with your HR or if they used an immigration lawyer. To make sure everything is aligned. Cause that difference would raise questions when the officer reviews your file. https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...-you-legalfalcon.408185/page-631#post-7908763.

I’m sure your company submitted the offer of employment with all your expected job duties and responsibilities stated when they sponsored your work permit. I would suggest to go over those documents and see if you can use those duties and responsibilities in your reference letter in your PR application.

Your NOC should be based on your duties and responsibilities and not your job title.

Thanks for your reply NOC98... Yes, I am trying to reach out to the Immigration lawyer who applied my work permit to understand the NOC code details. Basically, the NOC code doesn't seem to be aligned with the expected job duties mentioned on the offer of employment while submitting the closed WP application. Hence my concern, but yeah, hopefully, I get details from HR/ lawyer so I can explain the situation in LOE to the IRCC officer.
