Hi shad86,

you can apply with the AOR for the BOWP.
But your current WP has to be expiring within 4 months and you must be residing in Canada.
So after 2 months you can apply for it with a condition of living in Canada.
But Please double check the eligibility listed on

Although, don't you think that it's strange that they will give Open work permits to anyone who shows the AOR.??

If I remember well the AOR, is just the knowledge that you gather all necessary documents right? Anyone could give that even if a person knows it will be rejected. he/she could send the papers with the only purpose to get the Open work permit for a year.
I think there must be something else that they use in order to give Open Work permits.

The road to PR is quite long...currently at 13 months. There are those whose permit would expire during the process, so BOWP was created in order to bridge that gap and allow one to stay in canada, until a decision is made. Yes, you are right though, anyone can pull that off.

The other requirements are for you to be in Canada at the time of application, to hold a work permit that is expiring within 4 months and to hold an AOR.

btw, were you able to find out when your draft was cashed? I paid using a draft as well. I called the bank this morning and it's still outstanding.

Its a great feeling after your app is returned first time !! Anyways ...Let wait patiently for few months and ...then actively wait for next steps ..!!

if you don't mind me asking.. why was your first application returned? could you kindly share the reason or reasons?

I am hoping i'll be able to get AOR 'til next week if CIC maintains the same pace but i'm also a bit worried 'cause even though I took every careful step in filling out the forms and following the guidelines, no one can really be sure.

hi~ my draft is outstanding yet on banking system but CIC charged FEB 22 on my AOR.

I do not know why banking system updated slowly.
