Hey Andy,

I will be applying this week too but i had couple of questions and i would really appreciate if you can help me with them since you have already applied.

1. In the reference letter, does my manager need to write my entire job description or just couple of main points?

2. It says supply 6 photos for each member of your family and yourself. Since I am applying under CEC and its only for me, so i still need to provide my family member's photos? Doesn't make sense to me.

Thank in advance!

Hey bawejat,

(1) Reference letter - entire job description is a must. But make sure it matches with the NOC code that you applying for.

(2) If you are not married, then you need to provide photos only for yourself.

Thanks for the quick response Andy!

I am actually confused b/w the NOC codes. I started as a contract employee as a procurement analyst but then i got permanent and got promoted to a different role, junior analyst. Now when i see the NOC codes only the first job matches with the description, i cant find the similar job description to my current job so I am thinking of just putting my previous job and dont tell them about my new role, does it sound right?

Can i attach the job descriptions to the reference letter or ask my Manager to re-write it?

The JD has to be written by your employer (Manager). Just make sure that your Manager is in line with whatever you are projecting in your application.

Just to give you all a brief on what has changed in CEC stream (02 Jan 2013 vs. 31 Dec 2012)

1) One needs to have 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply.
2) If you gained your skilled work experience in Canada in a NOC 0 or A job, you must meet the minimum level of CLB 7 in either English or French for all four language abilities.
3) If you gained your skilled work experience in Canada in a NOC B job, you must meet the minimum level of CLB 5 in either English or French for all four language abilities.
4) Document Checklist IMM 5610 has changed
5) Document IMM 0008 Schedule 8 has changed
6) Processing fee can now also be paid upfront (online). If you are not found eligible, processing fee will be refunded.

In addition, "full-time" is now defined as "at least 30 hours per week."

Hi

I am wondering about section 10 of the updated check list. CIC still needs copies of T4 tax slips and Notice of Assessment issued by CRA. If someone like me has started his job on 1 January 2012, he has no T4 tax slip and NOA yet, but the 12-month employment is satisfied. So shall I wait until those papers are issued by CRA? I heard the NOA to be issued takes until May-June. Just wondering how to proceed with that.

I agree with you. If you refer to earlier posts on this forum, this issue had been raised much earlier but unfortunately, not addressed in the changes.

It is a practical scenario. I think one should go ahead and file the application with all other docs explaining reasons for not submitting T4 and NOA and also undertaking that you will submit it once available. On an average, subject to all docs in order, it takes 6 to 10 months processing time. This time frame (after one year) should be good enough for anyone to submit T4 slips and NOA after getting the AOR from CIC.

But one should make sure that all other docs are in order - esp. Reference letter in appropriate format with detailed JD, Pay Stubs, Work Contracts etc.

As per the changes to CEC, 'full time' is now atleast 30 hours per week.

If you have acquired this experience within the last 36 months and it has not been more than 12 months of leaving your job (in you case, presently working), you are good to apply provided your NOC is eligible (both as Cook and as Food Service Supervisor).

I have also noticed that now they are not asking you to provide a copy of your degree/diploma and transcripts. I will give it to them anyway.
