Medical exam validity extension for additional 12 months (new CIC Bulletin)

Well, MP office called me back today, Ottawa says that it shows PP has been viewed and shows that the request was submitted for extension, but that is all they know apparently, don't know where it is now for status. we are going on 6 weeks for the extension, double what we were told. That is all for now that I know. Anyone else have any new updates?

omg in 6 weeks someone could redo the medicals 2 times!! i still say they should let ppl choose: some might not b able to re-do it (pregnancy, finance, or they just prefer not to) but others might prefer to re-do it to save time!! what if after 6-8 weeks the extension is rejected and u have to redo it anyways : grrrrrrrrr

I know missmini and I'm so upset, still waiting and I can't get any answers from anyone. I wish just for one day all those people at Immigration could feel what we feel, maybe then they would be a bit more sympathetic to our feelings and get this done, like they are supposed. I'm really falling apart now.

I did not hear anything yet too, and it has been 3 weeks since they have requested the extension, and a total of 7 weeks since I mailed my passport. Does the visa office need to send the passport to Ottawa office when they request the medical exam results extension?

Hope we will hear from the visa office soon. I am very worried about the whole process.

Hi Tennesseean as far as my understanding no they do not. an email is sent to Ottawa for the extension. can you say frustrating. I am with you in the worry department, we just have to hang on.

Have any passports come out since the move was announced (other than the backlog that Buffalo handled directly?) Just asking because for all you know, the medical has been extended already and there's a general hang-up.

Hi OhCanadiana, all I know is that my hubbies PP has been viewed and extension was requested. but that's it. it has been 6 weeks since the IO said he was requesting the extension, as to when he actually sent it I have no idea. The MP office just called me not long ago to inform me of that much.

Gotcha. I was just thinking that I haven't seen anyone report on any PPRs or passports coming back from CPC-O yet so there may be a more general hang-up. Just a thought...

You are probably correct in that, it is very frustrating all this waiting and waiting. as you know.

Thanks for the information. The main problem is we do not know how long it takes to get the passports back. The email I received states 2 - 3 weeks for the medical extension, however, looks like not a really practical number. The only thing left is Hope.

Hi guys, update, MP's office called said that Ottawa sent the approval email to Detroit last week, for my husbands extension. So now its a matter of Detroit mailing it. But when will that be? who knows. Ottawa said they will not have anything new until August 23 bring forward date, Next time Detroit willl update their system. but I know things can still happen even if Ottawa isnt updated. So I am hoping that someone in Detroit will get his COPR and extension papers out to him so he can come home now..
