Hi, I am Canadian PR living in Quebec and want to sponsor my husband who is in India. I am in the starting stage of preparing the application for both me and my husband and have some basic questions. Please guide me.

1. Once after filling all the forms, Can I send it to Missassauga office the whole spouse sponsorship package? Or should my husband send it to CPC- Sydney?
2. Do we need to both sign the applications by printing out the forms as it is required? or will electronic pdf signature works?
3. Since I am in Quebec, I read that I need to apply for CSQ. But after receiving CSQ details by IRCC, will they provide Canadian PR to my husband along with this application? Note:(I am currently living in Quebec for work.Planning to move next year to Toronto)

Appreciate your response. This will help me to proceed further.

==> Download the latest checklist, since you will fall under outland sponsorship - it lists the address where you need to send it. Currently, it has CPC-Sydney for all outland applications
2. Do we need to both sign the applications by printing out the forms as it is required? or will electronic pdf signature works?
==> Print the forms, sign the forms. There is one form IMM5669 where you type the name, validate, print and sign alongside it with pen again.
3. Since I am in Quebec, I read that I need to apply for CSQ. But after receiving CSQ details by IRCC, will they provide Canadian PR to my husband along with this application? Note:(I am currently living in Quebec for work.Planning to move next year to Toronto)
Not sure about this.

Appreciate your response. This will help me to proceed further.

Hi All,

I submitted my wife's outbound sponsorship application on April 23rd, 2019 and i got the delivery confirmation on April 25th, 2019. Its been a month and i am still waiting for any updates on the file.

Just wanted to ask what are the steps ahead and the time duration for each of them.

Would be really great if someone can answer to my question.

Thanks a lot.

There is no time duration for each of the steps, only the process, which has a target of completion of 12 months.

Outland applicants will typically get requests and notifications in the front end of the process (in the first 2-4 ish months), inland applications will typically get requests and notifications closer to the tail end of the process, but nothing is set in stone.

Once you get AOR (usually within 1-3 months) additional requests and notifications should start coming for SA, medical, biometrics, etc.

Thank you for the response.

3rd question is that I understand CSQ is different from Canadian PR. Would my husband get both CSQ and Canadian PR through spousal sponsorship?

The beginning of the process - AOR1 [~6-8 weeks]

Creating a GCKEY account

Sponsorship Approval

CIC sends requests

PA Processing

  • Your application will then be transferred to your local VO, or in some instances CPC-Mississauga. CIC will send an email to the sponsor confirming which VO it has gone to. https://imgur.com/a/fjKRY
  • Once the VO begins to process the application, they will send the PA an email to confirm they have receipted the application, this is known as AOR2. Not all VO's send this email, however. https://imgur.com/3KAwhoK
GCKEY Updates

  • GCKEY goes through various changes during the final stages, again, this doesn't happen for everyone, unfortunately, and you may find your application show eligibility and background checks in progress from the moment you link your account. You'll see the following towards the end of the process: https://imgur.com/XRQq3yO
  • This is the slowest part of the entire process as background and eligibility checks can take a long time to kick in. Some people get ghost updates on GCKEY as the application is worked on. This is shown when the status shows as Application/Profile Updated.
Checking ECAS

  • ECAS allows you to check for updates on the application and during the final stages will show decision made under the principal applicant's section: https://imgur.com/F3yPtfD
Passport Request (PPR) & Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR)

  • Once you've received decision made, you'll get a passport request emailed to you: https://imgur.com/a/RRL6H
  • You'll send your passport to the address listed in the email, along with two pictures and the document. If you're from a visa exempt country, they usually request photocopies of your passport rather than the passport itself.
  • Once this has been processed, you'll be issued with COPR: https://imgur.com/a/f79qD
  • COPR will then be mailed to the address you listed in your PPR: https://imgur.com/a/gTdTl
You're then free to land with your COPR.

Hi guys

My wife lives in Pakistan I got her forms through my parents coming after the wedding whereas I came back even earlier so he brought partially signed forms by principal applicant and then I (sponsor) signed it here and put the same date as my wife signed in Pakistan.,
Should it be a point of contradiction as to why the dates are same if the form were mailed and it might result in return/refuse the application.

No.. This should not be a problem. In-case CIC confirms this from PA, PA has to confirm if PA signed the forms.

You meant CIC would confirm to principal applicant that sponsor signed it on same date.

Hello Guyz... We are so excited to be on this journey as we have also sent out our application today to CPC - Sydney, Nova Scotia. The application has been sent from India (through DHL). In our case, the Sponsor is my husband (Canadian PR) and I am the PA. Will keep our time line posted so that it helps other applicants as well. Good l
