Hey everyone . I paid for my husbands sponsorship application on FEBRUARY 24. it is now MARCH 10 and I have not received a biometrics letter for him on my email neither my CIC account. Whats happening? Does it usually take this long?
ps. I haven't mailed the application yet because I'm waiting to receive the biometric letter first.

You need to SEND the application first along with the receipt in order to get the biometrics request.

Also my husband and I sent our application early Jan and only just got the request to pay biometrics last week. It may take a few months for you too once you submit.

The biometrics letter comes much later in the process, you send the application in first, then wait between 50-90 days for CIC to send an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR). Once you've got this, you can use the application number form the AOR email to link to an online account (GCKEY).

Correspondence for your biometrics, medical and any further documentation required will then come through this account.

Im a little confused. Update: I sent my application in a little over a week ago. Where will I receive the biometrics letter? is it on my email that I provided on my online account or will it come to my account ? I thought receiving the biometric letter only took a month or less :(
PS. Where do they send the acknowledgement receipt ?

It sounds like you don't really understand the process, so I've written it up for you below:

The beginning of the process - AOR1

Creating a GCKEY account
Sponsorship Approval
CIC sends requests
PA Processing
  • Your application will then be transferred to your local VO, or in some instances CPC-Mississauga. CIC will send an email to the sponsor confirming which VO it has gone to. https://imgur.com/a/fjKRY
  • Once the VO begins to process the application, they will send the PA an email to confirm they have receipted the application, this is known as AOR2. Not all VO's send this email, however. https://imgur.com/3KAwhoK
GCKEY Updates
  • GCKEY goes through various changes during the final stages, again, this doesn't happen for everyone, unfortunately, and you may find your application show eligibility and background checks in progress from the moment you link your account. You'll see the following towards the end of the process: https://imgur.com/XRQq3yO
  • This is the slowest part of the entire process as background and eligibility checks can take a long time to kick in. Some people get ghost updates on GCKEY as the application is worked on. This is shown when the status shows as Application/Profile Updated.
Checking ECAS
  • ECAS allows you to check for updates on the application and during the final stages will show decision made under the principal applicant's section: https://imgur.com/F3yPtfD
Passport Request (PPR) & Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR)
  • Once you've received decision made, you'll get a passport request emailed to you: https://imgur.com/a/RRL6H
  • You'll send your passport to the address listed in the email, along with two pictures and the document. If you're from a visa exempt country, they usually request photocopies of your passport rather than the passport itself.
  • Once this has been processed, you'll be issued with COPR: https://imgur.com/a/f79qD
  • COPR will then be mailed to the address you listed in your PPR: https://imgur.com/a/gTdTl
You're then free to land with your COPR.

Thank you so much for this detailed information!! I am currently in the beginning stages. I have tracked my mail package and it says that it has reached its destination. I am assuming then the start date of my application has started. I have not yet received an AOR1 ... how long does it take to receive that? thats the next step I am waiting on. thanks again

At the moment you’re looking at around 30-40 days from the moment they received your application.

Okay thank you. And that AOR would come on my email?
ps- do you know if this is the same process for visitor visas? I would like my husbands family to come visit they have a turkish passport and they like to come visit me for one week in JULY. Would it take the same 30-40 days for their biometric letter to arrive and process since its just a visitor visa? because on the cic website it says receiving a visitor visa only takes approx 9 days for them to accept.

There are different timelines for visitors visas. If they apply in Turkey and there is a VAC there, they may apply in-person and conduct biometrics at the same time. If they apply online, they would wait until the biometrics letter is issued, which will come on a different timeline for visitors visas. I don't know what that timeline would be for visitors in Turkey.

They are living in Germany but hold a Turkish and German passport I believe. All I know is that they do need a visa to visit. Also thats interesting. I didn't know you could apply for a visitor visa in person at a VAC rather than online through CIC...?

If they have German passports, they only need eTAs, not TRVs.

That’s a Nice Post !
Okay so my application is transferred to the VO in Manila Philippines this month does anyone have idea how long it can take to hear from the VO?
As I read in here that not all VO send AOR2 to you which I haven’t received yet but I want know an expected time period when the next thing would happen?
Thanks
