Some talk about contacting our local MP if anything is going on with our application. Can you guys explain what's that about? what can an MP do or can they effect the decision made toward your application?

MP can't do any thing regarding decision on your application or push CIC
only he/she can provide you application status why it is delayed or so on
nothing more than that

Can we just do that by ordering our own GCMS notes?

yes. I strongly believe that MP's also does the same. i am not sure if MP's provide the response much earlier than 30days. GCMS notes takes 30 days to get the reply back from CIC.

I received my AOR by mail on July 3,2014
And I didn't hear anything from them.
Today I called and I asked my status they told me that they send me MR on January 9, 2015...
Nice and I still didn't receive anything..after February 20, 2015 I needto call them again then they can send again request (((

I called 1 888 242 2100. When I called first time they also told me that they are not providing any information, but today one of representative answer ally questions and opened my application.
