Typical.

Since our file didn't complete stage 1 until october I'm assuming we will be in the july pile now. Once they have all got their COPR then I will get back on the war path.
Another reason I'm a fan of the MNL spreadsheet with all the months on it.. so I can compare sponsor approval dates with PPR's. The way I figure it, we have another 2 weeks.

Hello everyone, my ecas has changed into in process for the first time since my wife attended an interview in visa office outside Canada on November 28th 2012. They said they started processing on January 10th 2013. Could someone tell me the meaning of that and how long would it take to hear from them again. Thanks in advance.....

I'm inclined to say that that is a good sign and PPR would be next . . . no indication you got that yet. BUT, how did the interview go, any idea?

hello guys, sent my ppr last dec 05 12 and until now i don't have any updates and my medicals will expire early next month (feb)(1 yr expiration for medical exam results right?). usually i am a patient guy, but knowing my meds will expire in a month and i still dont have any updates reg my pasport or papers, im starting to be concerned and im praying someone here could give answer to several questions.

1.) should i contact the manila embassy- or is it even possible to contact and talk to a real person for a specific answer? (i did sent email- but until now no answer to my inquiry, i just got a computer generated reply-no use-)

2.) or is it even possible that they will accommodate me if i go personally to the embassy and ask about my papers...

3) if i receive my passport back in time with visa on it(this jan), does it mean that i should forget about my med result or should i be rushing out to have ticket and fly asap to canada and beat the expiry date? -sorry i kinda think this is a stupid question but, what the heck.

4)worst scenario- if i dont have yet my passport/no updates yet until feb, should i be looking forward to undertaking another medical exam? or my medical exam result last year will still count? and how long would it take again for it to be processed?

5) another thing, I have to travel outside the country for business trip, can i ask the embassy to send back my passport right away?

tsk, im freaking out i dont even know if am making anysense...

thanks for helping-anyone?

Congrats bonitanita, our VISA arrived 3 days after 'DM', here's to hoping for yours that fast!!

may2012:
1) No, they won't "speak" to about it, they'll tell you to send in a 'CSE' (case specific enquiry).
2) No, they won't even let you upstairs, they'll tell you to send in a 'CSE' (case specific enquiry).
3) If you get your visa back in time, the visa itself will be very clear on that.
4) Don't do anything extra until they ask for it (your VO might be lazy too, he/she may choose to expedite).
5) Do you really want to impose that delay on yourself? I would either be asking my employer to avoid travel for just a little bit longer, OR telling him I can't for personal reasons.

@May2012

I'm willing to bet that if you haven't seen your visa now, it'd be pretty slim that you'd get it if your medicals expire early Feb. The reason is that the COPR can only be valid until your medical expires, and seeing that you still have to obtain your CFO certificate once you obtain your visa, if I were a VO, I would wait until exactly your medical expired and apply for a medical renew....but that's just me.

The risk is that if your COPR is issued, and you can't land before it's expiry it's back of the line for you.

Note that you need CFO certificate, which is a half day or full day seminar depending on whether your sponsor is Canadian Citizen or PR themselves. They will not let you board the plane in Manila without it, and the seminar itself is first come first serve.

How long is the validity of a medical exam? They say it's only for a year. My husband's medical was on Feb 3, 2012. It's almost a year soon.. They have already asked for his passport since Dec. 1, 2012, and he sent it to them with the other requirements on Dec. 4.

Is the medical really only valid for a year? It's just frustrating to find out that some applicants who had their PPR on Jan 2013 already have "in-process" on there eCAS. And those who got PPRs on Dec.1, 2012 does not have any response or changes in their eCAS yet. I wouldn't mind to just wait, but since my hubby's medical will expire soon, it just makes me worried everyday. :(

Did anyone here have the same experience as I have? Thanks!

It's really only valid for a year. However there's a new rule in place that says you might not have to repeat the whole exam, just the essential parts of it. This doesn't seem to speed things up much, since from what I've seen, a request for a new medical and the processing of it takes about 3 months in Manila. Cheer up, I'm a late April applicant who didn't get a PPR yet. You're way ahead of us.

Maybe thats why there hasn't been any movement on our application either. I believe my wife's medical expires in February as well. On my ECAS account it states that they have received her medical. Whats the point of that if they require another one?

Luckily the CFO thing she took care of after she changed her passport to her married name.

Yep, and some June applicants are having DMs too. Waaaaay ahead of us! Too bad we don't really see how things work in the embassy.
