we called cic an hour ago, my wife said that the agent told her that our sponsor approval is "on process and needs further review" what does it mean? the agent told her too that they don't know how many months more until we know the result? :( is there a problem with our forms? and by the way, we are married but my wife don't use my last name yet. Do you think that causes the problem? because we know that the law says that a woman has an option in regards to her surname, she can use her maiden name if she wants.. need some help guys.

do not get too upset....the CIC agents sometimes do not know what they are talking about...it sounds to me that they have opened your file but it is not yet fully completed on their end ;D....so do not worry you will have news shortly I am sure!!!

Congrats bro....enjoy your day... hope 2nd stage even make all of us happy asap..

For all those who have applied to the Buffalo VO. Since it is now closed, the CIC website has been updated to include the processing times of all the US VO's. LA, Seattle, NY, and Detroit. Processing times are all 10 - 12 months for these VO's.

I wonder what is realistic tho? With a standard, properly filled out application, maybe it'll only take 2-3 months at the VO's in the US?

I got approved even if my last name is not the same as my husband's last name. I'm the sponsor. I didn't change last names yet because it's a whole lot different process and I want to prioritize on sponsoring him here first. If they say "on process and needs further review," it does not necessarily mean there is something wrong with your papers. The agents in the call centre cannot say specifically which part of your papers are being processed, so they can only give you general answers. So dont jump into the conclusion yet, it's just that you have been opened a file already, and so the process have started. Ang you haven't reached 90 days yet since your app was received. So hang in there.

They cannot request that you change the name. For example in quebec we must keep out maiden name, it is also a choice to change your name not an obligation!

February has still yet to be finished and I as being from March am close to the 3 month mark with no news. The 12 months is only for step 2.

thanks for the reply guys! we are really worried about it. good thing there are some cases that are same with ours..
