Hello Krish2015 and Nuksyed,

Yes, you need to physically go to the border. So try Googling your nearest border to the US. To know more about flagpoling visit this site at:
http://www.visatalk.ca/flagpoling/

If you are in Calgary, COUTTS would be your best option for flagpoling. Check this map to Coutts below and plan your journey accordingly.

Good luck guys.

Cheers!

Yes it is legit and still doable. I have a friend who did it in February. Also check page 13 and 14 of this forum for a member who did the same. Therefore, learn more from the link I provided, get the necessary documents, plan your travel, and get going if you want to flagpol. Make sure you have every document plus cash ($255) or debit. If not, then you have to wait for the 96 days of processing.

Cheers!

Hi Sting123,

Thanks for joining us. Welcome to the forum. Enjoy. One question though. How did you pay the extra $100? Was it requested or not? Full and clear info is needed.

Cheers!

Sorry about that. I did not get any intimation from CIC to pay the money. I paid the money and attached the receipt via a case specific enquiry.

Any suggestions regarding which border in Ontario.. Fort erie or niagara?
Krish2015,

Both options are good. However, Niagara is busier and you might wait longer. That said, it all depends on you and how far away you live from those two POEs.

Good luck guys.

Cheers!

@Jubear: are there any risks involved in doing a flagpole .. I mean, intuitively, why arent ppl choosing this option - seems to be an easier way around.. Just asking bcos, after waiting for so long for updates from cic website, this option looks too good to be true.. hope u understand my concern...

I got mine through flagpolling. Obviously risk is they can not let you in and if they don't give you the permit at the border then you can't work while waiting for your work permit any more and have to wait until you get it.

The simple answer is that very few people are aware of flagpoling. But I understand your timidness, cautiousness, and concern. However, if you feel uncomfortable doing it, just sit tight and wait for 96 days.

To give you some bit of encouragement, make sure that you have a valid work permit or study permit before you go to the border. It has to be valid NOT expired. If it is expired don't bother going.

Again, read the link I provided in addition to page 13 & 14 of this forum. Make a decision to either go or wait. Good luck :)

Cheers!
